agreed, expected more sth like Chopper's Monster Point. This looks really like something from a different manga.
Overall not the most interesting chapter. Also somewhat surprised Oda showed Luffy's decision the way he did. Could have left it at the end of the chapter as a cliffhanger, or not shown it yet and use it as an entry to a chapter about the fight. Carrot's rampage felt okay-ish, I'm not too fond of the flying.

Agreed on the flying. Not the biggest fan... When I read spoilers yesterday somebody had said Carrot would dive into the ocean first, and then swim to BM's ships. This is a small distinction but could be important potentially - now that we know she can "fly", her range of movement is really increased. And, even more importantly to me, she'd be able to wield a DF and engage in this ship-to-ship bombardment without much downside.

It also opens the door to flying vs flying battles like we have them in DBZ or Bleach. Imo they don't work well in either manga.
Ofc cp9s/Sanji's flying step thingy already were in that direction, but to me those were more about having additional dodging options than actual aerial high speed movement. More of an addition to normal fighting than a replacement.
So I'm just hoping that it stays Carrot exclusive.

Its not like Carrot is going to be a permanent member of the crew, plus this is like a once a month ability.

Yeah I don't mind Carrot having that ability too much, it just might not stay only Carrot's ability. I hope I'm wrong.

Gear 4 also allows for flying. large portion of doflamingo vs luffy took place in the air

Everything ends up "flying" in one piece one way or another. Whether it is a really long jump, standing on top of a cannon ball, some sort of martial arts, a fruit power, coup de burst or just plain wings, the best fighters have to have some way of moving from ship to ship without using smaller ships or drowning.

pretty sure they used one burst to get out of port, the danger has been more from lack of maneuverability then speed though

Weekly shounen jump is taking a break. which means no chapter for the next week as well.
the next chapter will be released around 25th December.

So roughly 40 chapters more to Wando (Dec 18?) considering OP takes a break eveyr 3/4 weeks or so. Marineford arc being "cute" is a huge hype for the upcoming chapters
