I mean, they just barely won against Whitebeard, and that's with an insider betrayal, all the Shichibukai being on their side, and Blackbeard showing up. They just don't gain much, as they can already do what they want uncontested.
whitebeard focused his entire crew and all afiliates on attacking one point, the WG defended it heavily but they had lots of war potential guarding the rest of the world too
if shanks hadnt shown up whitebeard pirates prob woulda taken more losses then the marines did

I don't actually know about that. It took both Garp and Sengoku to defeat Shiki. And Shiki was basically a Yonku in all but name.

jack put up a pretty good fight vs a pile of top marines and came out in ok shape. vice admirals just kinda seem like high level mooks, with admirals being the ones who have real power.
it's probably a balance of power - the yonkou are probably all about the same level of power, world government can probably take 1 yonkou on at a time, but no one wants to fight because it means they'll be weakened enough that the non-combatants could probably stroll in and kick their asses afterwards.

tbh i don't remember exactly, but he came out in more or less one piece after fighting fujitora, sengoku a few vice admirals and a ton of fodder. and he's not even a yonko, just a top sub.

Jack destroyed two navy warships(there were four warships btw) when he went 1v3 against Sengoku, Fujitora and Tsuru.

well jack probably ran right once he got his butt kicked, there was no indication that the marine suffered any damage at all - also, Jack is the next strongest thing to a Yonkou. I am sure Marko would have gotten out in the same shape after such a fight
Sengoku and Fujitora are also not the type to chase a pirate once they flee

speaking of marko, it bothers me that katakuri and jack are complete monsters whereas marko was pretty pathetic at marineford.

He fought pretty evenly with Kizaru and Aokiji until he got distracted by Whitebeard coughing up blood and got lasered by Kizaru and then seastone-cuffed by Onigumo. I guess losing to a vice-admiral is pretty pathetic, since most of the time they seem to get beaten up to show how strong someone else is  .

How can we possibly enjoy the story unless all characters are rated in order of power from 1 to 1000. We need to know where everyone stands so that every battle will be decided by rank alone and no stupid clever tactics or strategy or something. How else would we know which characters are important to care about unless they're in the top 20?

lmao people overestimate yonkos to much... Look marines basically destroyed wb and his crew. Akainu alone gave entire crew run for their lives after sneak fisted by wb and quake fisted on chest. You guys need to search up akainu vs 14 wb commanders. Imagine how strong admiral is. The other two admirals of equal level barely did work while all wb commanders were more or less injured from action. Lets not even mention admiral level MIHAWK who dicked around entire war and garp/sengoku who did nothing. Imagine if all three admirals, garp, sengolu, and mihawk went all in.

It is a shame we never got to see Garp or Sengoku in serious action. I doubt either of them will do anything of note for the rest of the manga.
That's why I really hope that Blackbeard winds up taking out Sengoku and stealing his fruit so so that Burgess can become the Jesus Buddah.

odly enough i think the anime version make akainu and admirals looks weaker
