So how does Big Mom already know about Luffy being there? There was so much emphasis on secrecy in this chapter that I feel it would be too anticlimactic to have her "just know." I can only think it was Pudding who tipped her off after her surprise at hearing his name.

Or anyone in the city. Of someone on the Germa 66 ship tipped her off. Luffy isn't exactly great at hiding his presence.

This girl + Show Spoiler + was around when Big Mom got the news that Fishman Island couldn't pay their candy tribute. It's almost certainly Pudding though it could theoretically be one of her sisters.

Could it be Jinbe who told Big Mom? I totally forgot that the Sun Pirates joined her when Jinbe stopped being a shichibukai, and we saw Jinbe knows about Luffy last week

Lol that would be messed up. I'm gonna go with at least one of the many people in town who saw him and chopper eat an entire cafe recognized him. I mean they are planning a wedding with one of his crew members I'd be shocked if almost everyone there didn't know who Luffy was.
Not to mention they are the crew known for attacking Enies Lobby head on to get a crew member back, Big Mom and her people have to have been expecting some sort of invasion.

Again he should have had no way to get to Enies Lobby, no one knew the other sea train even existed but he did. He also could have a vivre card from Sanji or something like that for all they know.

Yes but my point was that is unlikely to happen again seeing as they have the reputation for being able to do things like that.

and just because they attacked enies lobby doesnt mean big mom is gonna treat them as serious credible threats that require preparations

Most people think Luffy is some sort of huge monster, and don't expect him to be that short, so I don't think all the people around are feigning ignorance. It's not unlikely that someone would recognize him though.

Treating them as serious threats is one thing, but no one knowing the face of the most infamous super nova, his face has been plastered all over the news constantly. He just took down Doflamingo, he has called her out personally and told her he was gonna kick her ass all over the new world. I mean it would be pretty retarded if they didn't at least know what he looked like lmao.

When people hear of Luffy, reactions like that of the guy in the bottom left are pretty common:+ Show Spoiler +.
Even when he was in Gear Fourth many people were going "he is shorter than I imagined", so most people's conceptions of Luffy's appearance are very different from reality.
