Thought that was interesting as well, not that it was a massive secret or something. Also, he apparently only needs to sleep 4 hours a day - and that's after adding extra time to account for getting older. Crazy.



Brook did just kind of appear out of the blue. Or rather, he was one of the suckers to actually agree to it when Luffy invited him. Being that Brook uses a sword, there is a certain level of overlap with Zoro, though the Iai style (draw, cut, sheathe) does help in that area. Aside from filling the musician role, I think his ability to roam around as a soul away from his physical body gives him some fairly unique scouting abilities (Robin has her own variation in that field). Whether that was conceived later or intended as a eventual development is hard to say.

Do agree that a massive character roster makes it quite hard to fit everyone in with meaningful screen time. Like with the infamous Pirate A. Helps me appreciate when other mangas only focus on one character, as I get to read multiple storytelling styles.
