Blackbeard crew got even bigger crew member. I dont see any problem with her size. Its not like there is not enough sea in the OP universe lol ! If you dont understand till now Strawhats will fight BB crew near the end and someone needs to take care of their giant and that will be Shirahoshi.

It was a great chapter!! really looking forward to next one!
i like this arc, you get to see fishman island, learn about fisher tiger, there are "poneglyphs", tenryubitto, storys about jinbei/arlong, get to see the new powers of the strawhats, strong enemys, more haki etc.. etc..
I feel there is gonna be a epic war now and they will gain a extra member but i don't think it's gonna be the mermaid since she is so fragile i bet it's gonna be jinbei since he got nowhere to go and no friends besides strawhats! In the end Jinbei will want to pay the strawhats for saving their race and fisher tiger will

I still want Jimbei so bad to join the crew, since Ruffy and Zorro seem to be stronger than him, i dont see why he shoudnt be part of the crew.
for the "every crew needs a huge member" part - ever saw choppers transformation?^^

I'd said this earlier and thought it was a good point but I feel like Jinbei has had his adventure and wouldn't go with the Strawhats - I feel like he would stay back with the Merman and Mermaids once they live on the surface to help them establish themselves (since it will most likely end up with them leaving fishman island and living on the surface as Queen Otohime had wished)

And I would be very surprised if Shirahoshi did not join the Straw Hat crew. They still lack
- a Merman / Mermaid
- a Giant
- a thrid female (7-3 split would be more balanced than an 8-2 split)
She has trajic past and is good at heart which are both requirements for all Straw Hat members. She has a hidden very strong yet to be used ability that could come in handy against the Blackbeard crew. Like Nami, Sanji, Robin, Franky and Zorro she and Straw Hat didn't like each other the first time they met. Of course Oda can always surprise us but ATM everything hints at her joining the crew.

Right now I'm watching the Anime and I have to say that the pacing has been feeling egregiously slow for the past few months.
Is it the same for the Manga?

Well the manga is always slower that's why in the anime you have fillers that you don't have in manga and things are a bit more detailed!
If in the anime they only showed things that happened in the manga the anime would eventually catch up to the manga and would have to stop.
Shirahoshi would be a good fit for the strawhats but i can't see it happen, we will eventually see!
One thing i learned with One Piece is that you have to be patient because it's slow and even tho it's running for more then 10 years, there is still story for another 10 years lol! So be calm and patient or it will eat your soul ;D

LOL I'm hoping the same thing! I really think she would fit in well. My friend is set on seeing Jinbe joining and swimming in the giant fish tank though. But I bet 95% that someone from this island will be picked up just so they can swim in that fish tank.

I don't think Shirahoshi will join for two main reasons.
1. She's a gigantic sissy. Worse than Usopp ever was. Having hit the halfway mark Oda seems to have moved Usopp closer to "brave warrior of the sea" and away from his nigh-eternal scaredy cat phase. Everyone pretty much needs to be a badass going into the New World and she just didn't fit the bill. At best she'll be Vivi 2.0
2. The only reason many people think she'll join is because she's large and Blackbeard has a large crew member.
Chopper's giant form says hi. He's had 2 years to gain a bit more control over his rumble ball stuff, though I'm guessing he still can't fully control the giant form given we're only halfway through the Grand Line and there needs to be more room for power ups.
As for manga/anime pacing... that's One Piece (don't worry, going by the manga, the anime is about to pick up as it has almost reached the time skip). Oda has pretty much never been afraid to take as many episodes as it takes to tell the story of any given arc. Instead of trying to cram stuff into small seasons (like many TV shows do) he just takes his time providing as much depth as he feels is needed. One Piece, in more ways than one, is about the journey and not just the destination (just watched Alabasta again - over half the arc before they actually meet Crocodile). I think that's one of the many reasons why I like One Piece so much.
It's not as bad after the fact, when you can just blow through a bunch of episodes. It's just the wait when stuff is current that's killer. The recent stuff, like Ace/Sabbo backstory, was much better than the anime's CP9/Enies Lobby arc (I swear some episodes only had 5-10 minutes of new content).
Also.... Nami can apparently use the mirage to be psuedo-invisible. Can only imagine all the shit she's gonna steal now. Just be glad that Sanji doesn't know how to use it.

Anime got a slow pace because they use 1 chapter for 1 episode so they need to drag some stuff out to fill the 20 min. Compare it with Bleach for example they use 3-4 chapters per episode.
As for the new crew member im still giving an advantage to Shirahoshi over Jimbei but this is OP and Oda is known for doing unpredictable twists. It could very be a 3rd person for what we know lol.
