Sausage Party.

+ Show Spoiler +
Okay, so, I was hyped for this before it came out, that may have colored my enjoyment of this to some extent. It kind of panders to my extreme love of sheer vulgarity and profanity. How could someone like that NOT love a movie that purports to more or less be a big fat dick joke?

This was one of the funniest movies I have seen all year, its the hardest I've laughed since I saw Spy in theaters (I think last year) and its the longest I've straight laughed since ever. I mean just... WOW. This movie is patently HILARIOUS. I'm not sure what else I can say to endorse a comedy more heavily than to just say its absolutely hilarious, and sometimes truly gut-bustingly hilarious.

Now thats not to say the movie is all mindless "hurr hurr the cucumber looks like a dick and the hot dog is a dick and buns hurr hurr" that sort of shits in there and its pretty much the bread and butter of the movie but theres also some legitimate themes that the movie is playing on. Are they subtly? Absolutely not. Are they particularly poignant? Not really. They're not the reason you go see the movie, but its a pleasant surprise when you're expecting JUST dick jokes. Instead you get TOPICAL dick jokes.

The third act of this movie is probably the most truly insane thing I have seen in so, so long and it had me just gagging on laughter for it's entirety. From the very start of the act its just a huge orchestra of sheer just... quality, its quality, true true quality.

I'm trying really hard to not be specific and spoiler thing because a lot of the value is the shock value. The shock value has a LOT of value here. Its really good.

I cannot possibly recommend this enough, if you're at all the type to enjoy dick jokes/stoner comedy/shock value this movie will be so far up your alley that you'll be coming to see the movie. (Even this sentence was a dick joke)

EDIT: Also, I saw Suicide Squad.

Jared Leto fuckin' sucks in it.

Just watched Primer (2004), holy cow what a ride. Don't spoil it for yourself by looking it up, but a quick summary I would give to talk about it is:

A group of technology-minded young men is experimenting in a garage, trying to improve or change the ideas of others to get something they can pitch to investors. They take the schematics of something intended to alter gravity and, in trying to understand what their altered invention actually did, discover they've caused something else entirely to happen.

70 minutes of riveting film on a budget of $7000. My gut and my mind are still struggling to understand what just happened.

ending was unsatisfying but I was on edge for whole movie. Interesting plot, never seen anything like it. Slow and steady always wins the race!

Just saw Suicide Squad yesterday:

-Lack of interesting bad guys
-Cheesy shallow characters
-Stuff which had potential, always felt flat
-Helicopter crashes are apparently not very dangerous
-Given a chance to do the right thing, the world most psychologically unstable sociopath will turn into heroes.

+ Show Spoiler +

-One of two things needed to happen:
Joker disables the booby trap of every member
or
Deadshot takes the hit and kills Harley Quinn without a second of hesitation

Also, if you make the bad guy some sort of semi-god, make it like Bill Cypher, that one was really scary...

In the comics Deadshot has a fling with Harley and they basically have a fwb type relationship. They basically ignored that fact all-together but still made Deadshot care about Harley for no reason whatsoever. She even lied to him about getting him off the hook too for when the Joker was supposed to save her, why save her?

Saw Suicide Squad last night, it was ok, how its rated 12 with parent present in UK makes no sense to me. That is a 15+ movie minimum haha.
Margot Robbie is to die for as Harley Quinn was the main thing that jumped out at me, other than that i to feel that there should have been different villains used. They got of course the main Deadshot/Harley/Boomerang right but i would have liked to seen Poison Ivy or someone else added. Bronze Tiger and Nightshade featured in the first ever suicide squad im sure too?
Onto the film itself it was pretty good, Margot Robbie ass being a prominent feature from like minute 20 right the way through the film was great, the new added laughter in every super hero film made quite a few laughs through out. Story itself felt pretty solid but seem to falter towards the end i wish they portrayed Amanda Waller with the actress from Arrow series as she is one tough cookie!

Would also say Will Smith definitely carries the acting hard in that film too and the Joker to me seemed all wrong. I would say if you like it to watch it, if you are worried about spending money on it maybe hold fire until its on TV in 12 months though i don't think your missing much.

Oh and if you really want to stay after the credits for a "secret" tease for a future film, do not bother + Show Spoiler +
it is just Batman and Waller talking which ends with Batman saying "stop the suicide squad i got this" in a direct link to him creating the Justice League which we already know thanks to the ending of Batman vs Superman..lol logic there was a bit strange

I saw Kubo today. What a tremendous movie. It was far more adult-oriented than I thought it was going to be.

Hmm, since this is a movie thread, can i ask for recommendations? Does anyone know of any good sci-fi thrillers?

MOON is about a guy that's stuck on a lunar base supervising mining robots.

Deus Ex is about the ethics behind creating a human-level AI.

Those are 2 good sci-fi thrillers.
Can it be I stayed away too long? Did you miss these rhymes while I was gone?

I would love to actually but so far in 2016 I wouldn't higly recommend a single movie. Problem is that I am quite sick of superhero movies becausse we are getting flooded with them and I find the large majority of them tedious and average (Suicide Squad, X-Men,Dawn of Justice,The first Avenger and god knows what else..).

If I would be forced to make some recommendations for 2016 I would name Deadpool which was atleast above average, it didn't hit my personal taste but many people whose Judgement I respect quite liked it so I'd say that it is above average despite being nothing for me.

I could name some stuff I'd avoid like Ghostbusters, The first Avenger (which was actually the most succesful flick this year so far money wise, which i cannot understand at all), London has fallen and don't watch Teenage Mutant Hero Turtles 2 under any circumstances. IMO all these movies are below average (London Has Fallen, The First Avenger) to straight up offensive (Ghostbusters, new Turtles movie).

Doesn't mean that the movie year will end as bad as it started. There are still movies coming out that interest me like Blair Witch Project, Operation Avalanche, The Morgan Project and Rogue One. But Rating 2016 as movie year purely one the stuff which already came out, I would say that it is the worst year since 10 years atleast.

Since some dude asked about sciFi thrillers above, which happens to be my favorite genre, I'll make a huge ass recommendations post including reviews in the next days, maybe in the evening tonight.

There's stuff like The Lobster, Knight of Cups, Pete's Dragon, Hail, Caesar!, Everybody Wants Some!!, Green Room, Hardcore Henry, The Nice Guys, The Shallows, The Neon Demon, War Dogs, Lo And Behold: Reveries of the Connected World, Voyage of Time, Kubo. Some of these were on the festival circuit last year with a wide release this year, some are only coming out later this year, but all interesting films.

Granted, they might not be to everyone's tastes, which is fine too, but worth at least looking into.

Didn't see everything out of your list but I saw Hail, Caesar! which I found mildly interesting but a big step down compared to other Coen flicks. The Neon Demon is interesting looks wise but doesn't offer anything else imo, War Dogs doesn't work as a comedy imo and I would rate it totally run-of-the-mill. Don't have high hopes for the Shallows. The Lobster sounds interesting but I didn't watch it so far. Hardcore henry is an inferior version of shoot 'em up. Didn't watch Kubo either but I think i'll give it a shot.

Just watched it (Upstream Color) based on your recommendation, and I'm much more confused about this. In a way it was refreshing that basically none of the plot is explained, but in another way it was definitely confusing trying to wrap up any cohesive story on my own, either. In the words of Jim Sterling, it was "an experience".

Recommended if you can tolerate almost an hour of ambient noise. I'll give it another go someday after taking this in, but it's hard to say anything about it.

Probably the most Asimov-feeling movie I've seen, especially compared to the adaptions of his own stories.
