Nuttin like a good murder mystery.
"A Friend In Deed" starring Peter Falk set in the mid-70s, its interesting to see how people in those days interacted with telephones, computers, and other forms of technology.

This detective has every physical deficiency you can think of. short . clumsy, afraid of all kinds of things. all he has is his mind.

What happens when the homicide lieutenant must take down his boss's boss's boss... the police commissioner?

I didn't like Princess Mononoke. I watched it for the first time ever like a month ago...it was kinda "meh" to me. Some good scenes, but overall it just wasn't that intriguing and I was bored throughout. Summer Wars is really good, and I just saw Wolf Children this past weekend, absolutely fantastic. On par with my favorite anime film of all time, My Neighbour Totoro, in my opinion.

A Garden of Words was also really good if you folks are interested in a romance film.
Princess and the Pilot is also really good.

Watched The Grand Budapest Hotel with my girlfriend, thought it was amazing. Didn't feel like a movie so much as a stage play. One of the strongest cast line ups ever, and I was pretty surprised at how short it was, I felt like I had been watching for longer (while simultaneously wanting it to go on).

Also watched a low budget scifi flick called Europa Report. Way better than expected, well executed and understated film. Its filmed almost entirely from the perspective of security cama and helmet cams etc, so it has that feel of authenticity without shaking like a spazz.

I liked Wolf Children. I didn't think it was amazing, but it's a decent movie. I was sort of surprised by how it ended, it felt pretty abrupt to me.

Wolf children made me really think for a bit about my parents. Parenting is pretty scary when you think about it. At first you have these little things which are completely dependant on you. Then as they grow up they face problems that you have never dealt with and are completely alien to you can you can no longer help them. Then you have to let them go. So sad!

This is something that I have to agree with you on. Princess Mononoke is a pretty good film, but it didn't really do that much for me.

Wolf Children was one of the best movies I've seen, but it was a bit weird, and at every point it surprised me a bit, which is cool for that type of movie. It feels like it has the same thing as Totoro going on, with a country-side fantasy-awe-learning about the world approach.

Thanks for the other recommendations, those will be next up on the list. People have been mentioning Summer Wars so that has me excited as well.

Yup, you're right on that. It was not the ending that it seemed like it would be. Some people might feel that's a downside for it, but I appreciated it. It seems like the right decision.

And The Grand Budapest Hotel is apparently pretty critically popular too, so it seems like one to check out.

Wes Anderson's films that I've seen have always entertained me. Am looking forward to watching Grand Budapest Hotel on DVD. In the mean time, I'll watch Darjeeling Limited some time this week.

Princess Mononoke is just not for me too. I get the theme but I never felt empathy for the characters. Howl's Moving Castle is excellent though, another one that I've replayed countless times.

I'd recommend trying to watch it in theaters (although I guess if you have a nice setup for watching DVDs not much would be lost ^^), it was a really gorgeous movie.

I'd also recommend it, I don't think it's a masterpiece or anything, but it's a well played and well made piece of entertainment, something not that common nowadays

Spirited Away is great. Howl's Moving Castle is good but would've been a lot better if the story was explained a little better. I'm not a fan of Princess Mononoke. The last half hour makes no sense. My Neighbour Totoro is a little too childish and simple.

Part of the draw of Totoro is how simple it is though. It seems like more of a kid's movie than the other Ghibli movies, but if you appreciate it for what it is then it becomes a great movie.

Totoro doesn't draw my interest. I must have tried to watch and finish it at least 10 times by now and haven't yet gotten halfway through.

As with the rest of the Ghibli films, it's really not for everyone. Some people will find it too boring, or too weird. Is it too boring for you to sit down and watch? You have to be in a certain mood to appreciate some of these movies. For example, smoking and then watching them might help.

You guys know what My Neighbor Totoro is really about right?
It's actually pretty dark.

There's all kinds of evidence supporting this theory:
http://kotaku.com/5926248/totoro-isnt-all-cute-for-some-hes-the-god-of-death

Edit: it's just a theory, but a fairly rampant one with some believability.

I stopped watching after 50 minutes.
Casey Affleck, this guy makes me cringe. I don't plan on watching another movie where he stars.

In a future where a failed global-warming experiment kills off most life on the planet, a class system evolves aboard the Snowpiercer, a train that travels around the globe via a perpetual-motion engine.

I usually like sci-fi movies. Its among the most viewed genre according to the IMDB, but something about this one. Dunno if it was propaganda or the surreal plot. Did like the metaphors of the train and all though.

5/10

Cute theory, but I would take Studio Ghibli's word on it, and say its not true. My fragile mind wouldnt be able to handle such a dark theory to be true on one of my earliest memories of a Anime.

Moonrise Kingdom
Just finished this weird movie. It was good, but it surprised me most by how short it seemed. While it didn't have any parts that really stand out there was no point in the movie where it bored me. It also doesn't seem like the type of movie to have so many big-name actors, but it turned out fairly well with that.

The Incredibles
Also re-watched this one for the first time since I was about 10 years old. It aged incredibly well. There was plenty of innuendo that went directly over my head last time that finally made sense.
