Le scaphandre et le papillon (The diving bell and butterfly)
I finally got around to watch this. Been a while since I watched anything that moved me as much as this film. Based on a true story I found it depressing and encouraging at the same time. It stars Mathieu Amalric, who is awesome (although you don't really "see" him for much of the film, rather you -literally- see the world from his eyes.), oh and Max von Sydow (<3) has a small role as well.

Finally got around to seeing this. I think it's full of too much symbolism and not enough substance. It's worth the watch for the tense feeling you get while watching the movie (if you like that sort of thing) with Javier Bardem's character because he is amazing in this, but in the end I didn't really feel I liked it or enjoyed it. I think it's over rated, although still a fine movie. (Yes yes, the gas station scene is great). If there is one thing that made this movie great it was Bardem.
No Country for Old Men sucked. Awful movie. The only good thing about the movie is Bardem's character; other than that, it's a steaming pile of shit.

I'm usually not a fan of German cinema, except for a few outstanding movies like "The Experiment" (Das Experiment). The Lives of Others definitely is one of those movies. Really good characters and hats off to the director for an outstanding debut. Watch it, if you haven't already.

Defiance, even though it came out a while ago was a really good story, execution could've been better....
Taken 2009 film of the year! Dude I didn't like Taken at all.
really? what ruined it for you? I thought Liam Neeson was excellent in it and the action sequences looked really genuine

watched quarantine last night... although i'm not a fan of that camera POV/FOV it was decent but I wanted to dropkick the lady journalist off the 3rd story stairwell

last night. it was ridiculously stupid. A lot of parts you'll be going "wtf" and "......"
especially the ending that was some big WTF.

I agree, I would recommend Persepolis to others like me who do not know much about Iran or the modern Middle East as an amuse bouche into a different culture

This movie is now even better because of HD.

The new Charlie Kaufman movie. Really weird movie which somehow still enchanted me. Some might say it's pretentious garbage but it has an impact in different ways to people. Characters mix up, and the chronology makes it really hard to follow. Sometimes to the degree that you don't even know what's really going on below the surface. Superb acting by the whole cast, especially Philip Seymour Hoffman makes this a movie that you just have to watch.

It's a movie about two hitmen sent to Bruges, Belgium by their employer for reasons he will reveal when they're there. Don't want to spoil anything but it's funny, it has some action and it's worth watching. i saw it less than a month ago. i have a question about the ending, + Show Spoiler +was it supposed to be funny that the boss shot himself because he thought he killed a child instead of a midget? or is there a message like, midgets are short and look young, but they are not kids? if i go deeper, was the theme "age doesn't mean shit"? in other words, you can be a little kid and still be a serial killer? I thought it was mainly for the humour, but I guess there could have been some kind of moral to it I'm not sure, there was a fair amount of midget discussion so it's definitely possible.
Thanks to the people who recommended Defiance and Religulous, downloaded them both and they were worth watching
