Isn't a bastard just a person born of another person outside of the marriage they are currently in, IE having an affair. Thats what every "bastard" in the show has been, first Jon Snow (Ned cheated on his wife) and then Gendry (Robert cheating with a whore). And why the name Waters? We don't even know what people in the kingdoms feel about having a child out of marriage really even. And that fits perfectly for the little evil king. He was born out of an affair therefore he's a bastard. I don't think there's a rule for when the bastard is born of noble incest, but given how much incest is looked down in Westeros I imagine he wouldn't even be given the Lannister name. And it's Waters because that's the surname for the region where King's Landing is located and I presume he was born there. They haven't explained surnames for bastards in regions have they? If so I completely missed that lesson. Lol holy crap, that is too funny. I'm rollin over here.
And Joffrey Waters just makes me think of John Waters.....

Just wondering if maybe that'll be important at some point. Who knows if we go to Highgarden and meet someone with the last name Flowers. Maybe we weren't supposed to know yet they that they were a bastard of someone important and they were going to explain the surnames at one point and then we all of a sudden have a realization. Who knows. not that I care at all just maybe that'll be something they explain and will be important at some point idk I don't read the books.
And it wasn't accidental, who knows if it's relevant (book readers would I suppose). Better not to say anything related to the books like the notes say.

I really don't think so and that is why I answered, nothing else actually, we even met a Flowers in season 1, a dead ranger of the Night Watch who became a wight

Theres a million different ways the traditional surname of bastards could have been made known to book readers, innocuous and intrinsic to the plot. The information itself gives YOU nothing. If it fucks with your mind in anyway I'm sorry your so mentally fucking fragile. As for the rest of us it doesnt matter a whit.

Bastard surnames are listed on http://gameofthrones.wikia.com/wiki/Bastard, which is the show wiki linked in the first post. It should be fair game for this thread, but there are still possible spoilers if you read everything.

It doesn't bother me at all I could care less, I found it interesting actually. Don't need to insult me though thinking I was mad about it. I was just pointing out that it was something that isn't explained in the series yet is all. Tone down the aggression.

Wow, I finally understand how everyone knew Jon Snow was a bastard from the get go. It always confused and I just accepted it and moved on.

Snow, for sure, has been explained as the bastard surname of those born in the north. As well as the whole "wolves for the 5 true stark children" thing in the first episode.

Obviously if it hasn't been mentioned in show yet don't answer it. Could've just said no it hasn't been mentioned. And my question was more along the lines of me just talking aloud and wasn't really a question that needed answering. Was just conjecture and I expected no answer tbh.

Yeah, just because some people don't know that it doesn't mean they are spoilers. It's just background info. I think if you're the kind of viewer that doesn't even look a the show's wiki then in may not be a good idea to be looking at a thread like this.

does the next episode premiere this sunday??

Could you guys please be a little bit less paranoid about spoilers? You are hurting this thread just as much as people who actually do spoil stuff
