I think the best name in the show is Tyrion/Jorah... its just so unique yet I can totally see people with these names. Names like Drogo or Viserys just seems too fantasy-ish.
Would you rather be compared to a local theatre actress or Katherine Hepburn lol.
I really like the names in this show too. I enjoy the simplicity of the Stark names. Just the right touch of fantasy and reality mixed in together.

Unless you live in New York or something. =b
I like the cast, it's mostly unknown actors who all more less act amazingly. I think Emilia Clarke is doing well too, I think a large part of the seemingly dodgy acting is due to her character being kind of wacky.

I must have thought being a local actress means not selling out =\ .Anyways Orchid use your 1337th post wisely LOL.

I like her but. When she opens her mouth she just seems like the girl next door. Very ordinary...

It's testament to how good the show is that anyone can complain about her acting, to be honest. If she were appearing on the majority of network dramas, she'd be considered by far the best actress. She just doesn't stand out as much as the rest of the cast, plus she's got her own arc that doesn't yet intersect with the rest of the characters, so we haven't gotten to see how she interacts with the strong personalities on the show.

This the first week I don't have easy access to watching the episode premiere. I've seen strikegently upload the episode on Sunday nights.

I actually really disagree with you guys, I can understand that she seems ordinary, and her role is the QUEEN OF DRAGONS, but firstly you need to understand it is her first breakout acting role (as basically one of the figure heads for the show) but furthermore she plays the role of a daughter who's entire family was butchered and brother sold her as a sex slave for an army... In my opinion, just by looking at her role, how she acts seems to coincide with her character's persona...
Any thoughts on that?
Also, very funny joke.

I agree about that statement though. I've come to dislike her character based upon the actress. She has imo only one line that she repats over and over like a mantra.

I think she did an amazing job in s1, not so awesome in s2 though... And about her, i was shocked how hot she looks as Daenerys, but quite normal (and normal in this case means still kinda hot) as herself. That s a strange feeling for me since i believe girls without makeup >>> girs with makeup

Anyways I think the next episode will be THE best for this whole series.... Considering the Lannister forces aren't with King's Landing at the moment all Tyrion & Joffrey have are the gold cloaks which imo is pretty much a police force with tazers
the way it's starting, the best episode is not even written yet , we have '5' differents stories here, what will happen if and when they rejoin :o

I don't get all the hate towards the actress for Dany. She isn't great, but she is not the worst actor on the show. The actor for Jon Snow has to be one of the most bland, uninteresting actors I've ever seen on television. Also the black guy in Qarth is very bleh.

That has to do with bad writing, not acting. Actors don't make up their lines.....
I don't remember anyone complaining about Dany in season one, and I think her acting has suffered because so much of the writing has been poor for her.

I agree on the writing being the bigger problem for Daenerys than the acting. There's only so much you can do with the same trite lines every episode. It was the same in Lost, the acting was fine in the first seasons, but when the writing went downhill, the acting stopped being believable. Part of the reason why The Wire's cast seemed so unbelievably good was because they never actually had to say things that seemed out of character or boring.
In general, I feel they're making a mistake this season with how they're dividing up screen time. With a cast as huge as this and this many side stories, giving every character at least one scene per episode makes the whole story move tediously slow. I really don't see a reason why we need to have a Daenerys scene or another conversation about sex between Ygritte and Jon Snow every episode. Going the way of The Wire and ignoring side characters for a while until something actually important happens in their story would make the single episodes seem less formulaic and trivial imo.

She's much more prettier in the show than at an event.

Honestly I'm not a fan of the Daenerys storyline because it just pisses me off. Although seeing the spice king verbally demolish her made me laugh, it just seems too insignificant and drawn-out. I'd rather they skip to the part where she finally gets the boats and join the party already.
And more screentime for Tyrion, Joffrey and Robb please. I'm really interested to see how that plays out.
