It would be odd to choose a specific number instead of merely saying "few" though. With Jaime's competitive nature I feel he would keep track of who could beat him so I think its referring to specific people.

While not being a real fight, this may have led to Jaime holding Loras' skill in high enough regard to include him in one of those 3. That was a joust, not a sword fight though.

Indeed. He is really a known jouster. He really knows where to poke his 'lance'. *wink wink*

I think they tell most of the stuff though. The mad kind was mad because he was an inbred. They quote "The Targarians wed brother and sister for a thousand years to keep the blood line true" like 28 times, and one I think Tyrion quoted "Every time a Targarian was born, the gods toss a coin" or something with the context of that every other Targarian was insane. Edit. When speaking of the great sword fighters Jamie mentioned, you could argue for the old... what's his name.. the old kings guard guy who got stripped of his titles when Jeoffry became king. They spoke a lot earlier about what a great fighter he was - and possibly still is.

I do think Jaime just threw in a number, but what we know so far of the fighters is that Loras, the two Claganes and Barristan Selmy are better than the rest

Then they just talked and I finished the first season still thinking "the zombies gotta come soon. the zombies gotta come soon!" Then as season two started I rewatched season 1 for what it was, and started loving the crap out of it.. I'm gonna have to go buy the books now, because when season 2 ends I'm going to have some serious pain :/

The name of the nurse girl, by this I think you mean, the girl from Volantis, Talisa Maegyr.

He seems pretty badass for me No, Renly's wife is of house Tyrell. Tyrell are one of the strongest/most powerful families in Westeros. Their capital Highgarden is in the southwest of Westeros. Volantis is one of the "Free cities" across the narrow sea. If you remember episode 1 of the first season, Dany and Viserys were in another of the free cities called Pentos. You can think of Volantis as essentially a medieval Italian trade/merchant type of city. The guy who killed the dancing master is one of the kingsguard I think. He's not really badass. He beat Syrio Forell (the dance master) because he had thick armour and a strong sword vs a guy in clothes and a wooden sword. Syrio Forell didn't lose/die because he got beat by a better opponent but rather think of it as a build order loss. Edit: Fixed Martell to Tyrell, I always get the two mixed up.

Stannis is a badass and could be one of the 3 maybe, but I'm pretty sure the shadow demon and warlock have them all beat. Op as shit Loras isn't a good swordfighter just good at the lance. Jaime would wreck him. The mountain maybe just because of his size/strength/the strength of his armour. Selmy perhaps as well. Stannis isn't really shown as a skilled fighter, I think there's reference that Robert was a much better fighter than he was and Jaime definitely could beat Robert.
