If Joffrey or Cersei had him killed, that would be directly undermining Tywin's command and authority, and would force him to have to go to King's Landing to deal with the issues there personally, something he can't afford to do while simultaneously managing the war. Even if Tywin doesn't like Tyrion, he definitely needs him at the moment. makes sense. Hear me roar!

Not only is Tyrion a dwarf, but he "killed" his mother when she gave birth to him. As far as Tywin is concerned, he lost his wife so a piece of trash could be born. Recall Tyrion's conversation with Jon Snow, when he says, "all dwarfs are bastards in their father's eyes." Furthermore, in the tent scene, Tywin orders Tyrion to fight in the vanguard, which may as well be a death sentence. + Show Spoiler + Tyrion got lucky because he was knocked out by a warhammer before battle even started. We also get a unique look at Tyrion's sense of family loyalty when he replies, "Surely, there are ways to have me killed that are less detrimental to the war effort." It's a real shame that Tywin refuses to accept his son's intelligence and value. I believe that this is the only evidence of a fault in his usual cold, calculated, and practical demeanor. The only value Tyrion has to him is as a Lannister, which is why Tywin appoints him as the stand-in King's Hand while Tywin is busy at war. (All the other notable Lannisters are busy doing something else.) In the end, Jaime is the only senior member of the family who gets along with Tyrion. I would assume that Myrcella and Tommen don't have a problem with Tyrion either.

Jaime and Tyrion do not get along well, but they don't hate each other actually, at least there aren't any signs of that. So far Tyrion has showed that he only truly hates Cersei, and probably also dislikes Tywin.

The only "negative" interaction I can think of is when Jaime questions Tyrion's loyalty when Tyrion implicitly suggests that he knows how Bran fell from the tower. But that's hardly defining of their relationship.

Not from what I've seen. seems more like Tywin is the most powerful man in Westeros, just prefers not to rule from the throne. Your Sardinia argument, not sure how that really relates to anything. Feels like you're just trying to show off your history knowledge there. "They cant build ships, the iron islands dont look like they have a lot of wood". Its WOOD, not oil, or gold or some other resource thats actually rare. The vikings were great raiders because of the design of their ships and because of the people sailing the ships, not because they had so much more frigging wood then everyone else. Theon wants to be a king, its just that simple. Dunno why people find that so hard to grasp, and are making some hilariously convoluted arguments as to why it doesnt make sense. "But, why would he want to be king of Faroe islands when he could be right hand to the right hand to the right hand of the king of Scotland". Uh, cause the North isnt Scotland and Iron Islands arent the Faroe islands. This is modelled on Medieval culture, he wants to be a KING with all that entails. I don't know whether you`re referring to Tywin after or before Roberts reign, because I might agree after his reign but definitely not before. Tywin may have had the money all along, but Robert as king always had the loyalty of the Northern Kingdom, the Vale, Riverlands and the Baratheons. As powerful as the Lannister's are, they'd be smashed under that much power, just like the Targaryeons were, who had Dorne and Highgarden on their side. After Renly's death, I'd definitely agree with you Tywin has the most power in Westeros and is basically king at the moment.

I think the fact that Tywin sends Tyrion to Kings Landing is proof that he doesn't hate him as much as one would suspect. I believe he trusts Tyrion to actually govern the people and play the political game above Cersei or Joffrey

The hound was a bad ass this episode, saving Sansa like a boss. Too bad he has to serve the douche king joffrey. I wish Tywin would go to king's landing and show that little fucker whats up. Tywin is a get shit done type of guy, I think he's one of my favorite characters.

And tyrion is not a dick, and he sees what Joffrey is doing to Sansa and I think he feels bad for her. But yeah, most importantly he sees the value of keeping Sansa safe.

Tyrion is also kind-hearted, despite all the shit he has been dealt in life.
