You learn the Stark sigil from that scene, but you don't really understand the significance of the stag until later. Its not until a 2nd viewing or read after you've seen everything play out that you're like whoah ok this scene is freaking awesome. Theres also the scene later in Season 1 with Tywin butchering the stag. ANIMAL MOTIFS~

In Season 1, when Ned left Winterfell for Kingslanding and Jon left for The Wall. Ned told Jon that once they met again he will tell Jon everything, but Ned died and the secret died with him. But there are still many seasons ahead, we will know eventually I suppose.

Don't expect an explanation if it's in the books just curious if it's mentioned. It is explain in the books, not sure if it was in the show. If it was it would have been in the scene where Viserys and Doreah are in the tub. edit: Ya they do: Basically they weren't able to breed them properly, so they got progressively smaller and eventually couldn't reproduce

So most of it is still fresh in my mind. If anyone wants to know anything that happens in the books (or differences in the show/book whatever) just write me a PM. I will try to answer without spoiling anything else unless you ask for it of course. BTW: 3 days until new episode gogogogo!

This is one of my main concerns with the show. I've seen too many good HBO series end abruptly. I'm hoping Game of Thrones gets its chance to finish as a series (for as long as the books are still being pumped out).

There's enough material out now for at least 4 more seasons (since book three, A Storm of Swords, is going to be covered in two seasons instead of 1), and there are 2 more books coming. With the great success the show is getting in the ratings and from the critics I see no reason why the whole book series won't be covered. Unless its popularity unexpectedly and drastically falls sometime in the next few years.

George R. R. Martin simply does not write fast enough. The last book, A Dance With Dragons, took nearly 6 years to be completed. I don't have very high hopes for the next one coming out by the time HBO catches up. I think the TV series will have to diverge from the books at some point and go with their own seperate story.

Unless its popularity unexpectedly and drastically falls sometime in the next few years. GRRM writes slowly. This series is only a few months younger than I am, at 21 years old! I see no reason why they wouldn't put out four more seasons, to match with the books that are already out (Up to A Dance with Dragons). Considering that GRRM took some material from Dance, has been writing for a year already, and has four seasons (almost four years =() to go until The Winds of Winter needs to come out, I have high hopes that there will be time to get the sixth book out. For a Dream of Spring, and the conclusion of the series? There is absolutely no chance it'll be out by the time that we need to bring a conclusion to Game of Thrones, and that's where I'm afraid we're going to lose the series. Even if they pull a mini series about Robert's Rebellion, or the Targaryens or something to open up the history of westeros (which would be pretty damn awesome) there's no way they can fill the years it's going to take until Dream comes out, and by the time it does, how old are our actors going to be lol? I expect we'll see independant writing from the staff of GoT to close out the series, so there will be some startling differences from the books, but it should end the same way, with GRRM on the writing staff.
