There were basically three parts to that scene of great importance: 1) Stannis and his connection to Melisandre (did they even call her name in the episode?) and the Lord of Light 2) Stannis writing his letter explaining the incest between Cersei and Jaime and the illegitimacy of their children as well as his claim to the throne 3) Melisandre drinking the poisoned cup handed to her by the Maester of Dragonstone Not only did I feel all three of these shouldn't have been in the same scene but then in the next few scenes EVERYONE apparently knows of the letter Stannis sent that happened only a few minutes prior on screen time. I don't know I don't feel like I missed anything there. I suppose if you're a fan of the books it may seem off that it was done so quickly but I didn't think it failed to make any of those things clear. I thought it flowed logically that after you see him write the letter that you can assume the rest of the characters would know of it. The only thing that maybe isn't clear is Melisandre's name, I'm not sure they used it.

Agreed, but her story will definitely pick up, and I'm really looking forward to it. On April 02 2012 11:44 Whole wrote: I never read the books, but I liked this season 2 premier. It seems that we'll jump into Lannister conflicts really quickly in the next few episodes while the Dothraki, Night's Watch, ect. will develop much slower. I don't mind because it'd be too hectic to develop the other two "plots" (or w/e you want to call them) at the same speed as the Lannister plot. Or they could dedicate the first 3-4 episodes to each "plot" (like this one was a Lannister episode it seems) and everything will be really slow until about episode 5...then a bunch of awesome and crazy stuff will happen at once. As I said, I haven't read the book, so IDK what would be the more logical approach. As long as people who haven't read the books are able to follow it logically, then I think it's fine. I did think it may have gone fast, but then again, there's just so much beef to the books it's hard to tell if something has gone quickly or taken a long time due to descriptions, etc.

Ditto for how the non-readers will feel though, they took out the new location names and the scenes flew all over the place. The establishing landscape shots were awesome, this season feels more like a movie!
