I hope thats not Margaery Tyrell at 1:17. Not what I had in my head
It is. And I agree she looks far too old and 'smirky' (?), I always pictured her as more innocent until... At least my boy Davos is looking mighty fine and Renly with that beard is much better.
Renly with the beard, slightly longer and messier hair and the crown looks amazing.
I'm also thrilled with how Arya looks. In episode 10, her short hair (aka, wig) just looked weird. What they did with the actress' hair this time around looks a million times better.
I've never liked renly in the series. He is supposed to look like Robert did in his youth, as in big and buff.
And Margaery would be older, because all the kid characters are a couple years older in the series
I don't think he was ever as buff as Robert. He is described as a younger version of him, but I think it's more in the attractiveness regard (before Robert ate and drank his way to obesity, that is). Robert was buff because he was a warrior and he trained to stay strong. Renly could have been buff if he wanted, but as it was made so clear in that Loras/Renly scene from season one, Renly doesn't train like that.
Well that's exactly what I don't like about renly in the series. I never perceived him as a pansy in the books. Vain, yes. Naiive, yes. But not soft or weak.
Does anyone know when they plan on starting season 2? Is it going to be April again?

Yeah I agree that Margaery is not exactly how I pictured her, but it'll be fine as how they present her character will be much more important. And Renly looks far better in those Season 2 shots than from Season 1.
We are now hearing from multiple sources that HBO plans to order both seasons three and four and film them back-to-back (à la Lord of the Rings).
I figured this should be put here. Sounds good, I hope it's true.
Makes sense, so much stuff happens during a storm of swords that they'll probably have to do 2 seasons for it, might as well give themselves some room for shooting and script changes.
did you really thing that they were going to get a huge ugly woman to play Brienne? I'm glad they made her very tall, although it will be odd if everyone is repulsed by her and she is actually attractive lol. Unless they make her up to look bad

Ofcourse she is gonna be ugly.
If not naturaly ugly then the make-up will do the trick.
If she isn't ugly then her entire character doesn't work. Her appearance is large part of what makes her character. Not just makes it unique but it's directly related to her outlook on life and her emotional struggles.
So yeah, she has to be ugly. Make up probably just makes it easier to find an actress since you don't have to limit your candidate pool so much.

Well I always pictured Margaery as a younger version of Miranda Kerr so I was always going to be disappointed Then again, I expected them to have actual blondes playing the Targs as well.
The actress playing Margaery in GoT looks really impish and scheming, which, if it went through GRRM's approval is probably a spoiler of Margaery's character. I'm curious as to whether she's focusing on portraying Margaery's apparent kindness and innocence or that she's going for a more manipulating queen bee type.

As depressing as it is I agree with you, prettier girls probably have more experience in actual roles, so it's easier to cast them, then put make up on them. It would be a lot harder to find an ugly girl that fits the model/description, can act and has experience, cause they aren't casted that often..

Stopped reading there.
Don't see what's so farfetched about that statement....I enjoyed GoT way more than LotR. But then again I never got into LotR that much although I respect what it did for the fantasy genre.
That GoT's characters are more complex and can't be described by generalities such as "good" and "evil" to the same degree as LotR is true. If that makes GoT better than LotR can be argued. The whole good and evil concept is very traditional in fantasy and something I personally like. Martin's approach have a different appeal to it as GoT as it feels more like a mix of classic genre's. Different book different tastes, I'm not sure why we need to declare some objective winner to it all.
I just finished the Game of Thrones book after I seen the first season of the series, now I am reading book nr 2 A Clash of Kings. I hope I can read all books before the second season starts. Game of Thrones is the best since LotR.
I started watching this yesterday. I just finished up Episode 6 of Season 1. I'm watching the last 4 episodes, I wonder -- is there a Season 2 out yet? This show is fucking AWESOME.
