I have to say these are the best novels I have ever read and I am dreading finishing book 5.
The whole world he created is just so real and it represents human nature so well.

This seems a little short sighted. I'm reading at the moment, and there are traits of Martin's writing style that have turned me off somewhat. Had I not heard so many glowing reviews, I'm not certain I'd have stuck it out long enough to get to the real juicy bits that are common later in the narrative.

Nothing is perfect, but I think it's short-sighted to believe it to be mediocre.

God its so good. I feel like I should pace myself a little bit, but I just can't. :/ and then, I think that the fifth book came out like two days ago? Heh. I do believe that certain parts of the books seem a bit slow and dry, though, and I sometimes find myself a bit bored for a chapter, but it usually doesnt last long. I had trouble getting through the first book though since I knew everything that was going to happen. The scenes with Tyrion trapped in his cell were boring as hell to read when I already knew everything. But yeah, sooo goooddd. Arya is friggen awesome. Probably going to watch Season 1 again, lol.

Well the series is a time sink imo. I had to read Game of Thrones 2 times before I could grasp the characters and the setting completely and I am not even mentioning the length of the book. But that should not be a problem for fans of the series, right?

Can't wait for the next season to start already. Source: Inside TV Well, he's no Gerard Butler (wink wink) but I liked him a lot as Tom Jefferson in John Adams. I'm not really familiar with Carice van Houten but I like her name, like Millhouse.

Only minor thing is that Carice van Houten is a pure white so she lacks a bit the "oriental" feeling Melisandre has but that is just something minor

I pictured Stannis being a lot older and more fat though, ah well.

I think he's described as a wiry or slender man? I can't recall exactly but he's not a chubby fellow, me thinks. EDIT: No, he's described as large, my bad.

Yeah, I figured Stannis would have been more stout. But age is simple for a production team. And I bet after he puts on all his armor (or just padding) and furs/cloaks/capes and whatever else, he could bulk up.
