The other two I dunno. I mean Joffery seems like a complete asshole who will be a terrible ruler yet his mother still puts him on the throne, which if he grows up will only make things very bad since well they won't be around to control him. The father seems baller though. Sure he would be a sick ruler.
pretty much this
Tywin and Tyrion are the outstanding minds in the Lannister family. The rest is trash pretty much

I wonder if there's a poll somewhere in this thread or elsewhere to determine how many fans each house/character has. Would be nice to find out :-)

And what if you're a fan of about half the characters and half the houses? It's too early for me to decide who I'm rooting for because we've clearly only touched on the top of the iceberg of the political intrigue of the story.

Yeah it would also be hard for me to decide now. Maybe we should just wait and make a poll after the season finishes. Although I have my favorites.

If by rule you mean the Emperor (from SW) way of rule, yes they are good at that

The Tywin scene won me over to the Lannisters side, I've been thinking of switching for a while now with all the hasty and bad decisions by Eddard and Catelyn. That said, Joff's character is repulsive and the whole incest thing is still pretty bad, lol.
It was nice to have a bit of insight into Littlefinger's backstory, though it left me hungry for more info about that duel he had.

If only we could get rid of Joffrey and the queen. I hate them so much where as Jaime and Tyrion are totally awesome. Best characters in the show with Arya and Jon.

Did the books detail what the scar was?
Edit: nvm, read above post.

Oh man, kind of sad the season is only 10 episodes (I was thinking it would be at 12). The only stuff I'm not overly into is the Theon dialogue, but otherwise another amazing episode (and poor Ned's guards...-_-)

[episode 7 spoilers, but it's a week old, so it's not groundbreaking]
rewatching ep. 7 and I couldn't help but notice all the shananigans after Robert's death could have been easily avoided by having some neutral party witness what Robert says to Ned. Someone like the head of the Kingsguard, the man more swollen with honour than Ned Stark, and utterly uncorruptable. Of course, Robert didn't know of his wife's duplicity, so that might be the reason for his lack of foresight.

no you are wrong it would not have helped. Ultimately Ned messed up by not allowing Littlefinger to get what he wanted but still counting on him. As you could see Cersei didnt care about Roberts will and the Kingsguard is bound to protect the king which would be Joffrey so they couldnt help either.
So you can say if Ned would have done what Littlefinger advised him to do he would have been able to overthrow Cersei with Littlefinger and Varys together, but his pride plus the insisting on Stannis as the new king was his downfall.

Yeah i hate it when they do that. he just seems actually emotional and caring compared to the books one. the books one seems so much colder and harder on his children, also the scene we first see him in in the book better portrays his character. the tywin from the books never does his own dirty work either (which they imply he does in the show with him skinning a dear). also hes supposed to shave his head, but thats minor. i mean the actor seems awesome but its like they're trying to humanize tywin with the way they wrote the scene and the dialogue.
Actually I think it's pretty acurate that lords do their own skinning in med-evil time periods. Also, he didn't come off as caring to me. Tywin isn't emotionless in the books, and I thought he came off as pretty cold and single minded on his family getting power in the scene, which is how he is in the books.
If anything I think they've tried to humanize Cersei too much. In the books she doesn't have a shred of good in her.

No, not Nazi, but fascist for sure. Hitler claimed he would create a reich that would last 1000 years, hes not just doing the old fascist=nazi thing. I seriously hope that Joffery, Jaime and the queen get killed, such self righteous pricks, and not smart either. Tyrion on the other hand, i love his character, knows just what he needs to do just when he needs to do it, and i love his attitude. Also dat scene where he slaps Joffery about is awesome.
