This episode was so good !! Even dany's scenes were great !
Trial by combat, he choses a champion, the other party choses his. Fight to the death.

This episode was so good !! Even dany's scenes were great ! Trial by combat. Each party can declare a champion and they fight 1v1 to the death. Winner wins the trial. It was what happened when Bronn fought Ser Vardis for Tyrion when he was accused by Catelyn Stark and Lysa Arryn. Man Tyrion gets himself in a lot of trouble.

By the way I don't think Tywin would allow Jaime to fight as Tyrion's champion (plus I don't think that Jaime is necessarily that good anymore without his right hand) but maybe Bronn again? Or my aforementioned Oberyn theory.

Bronn was wrecking Jaime so yeah xd
I don't know if hypothetically Jaime would be allowed tho, only thing keeping him is his kingsguard status I guess ? The Queen Regent is accusing Tyrion not the crown, so technically Jaime has no link has he ? Dunno

thanks ! well, only 4 episodes left, they'll keep getting better i guess !

Peter acted the shit out of the last 10 minutes of that episode. You could feel every knife in his back throughout the whole episode and watching them march out Shae for the final insult was just excruciating to watch. I hope against hope that Tyrion names Jaime as his Champion. It makes so much sense:
- It gives a purpose to all the "practicing with Bronn" scenes throughout the season. - If Jaime loses, then Tywin is thwarted, because he loses both of his heirs. - If Jaime wins, then Twin is thwarted, and Tyrion lives again.
It's the perfect solution, I want it so badly. I just don't know who he'd face off against that has significant enough weight. How much more epic if it could be Tywin himself, but there's no way that'd happen. The rest of the Kingsguard seem like pussies, so I wouldn't think they'd be much challenge even for Jaime. Hmm. Not sure.

Not sure. Tywin is 67 I think they said in this episode so it is doubtful although the man handled that elk in that scene with Jaime (I think in season 1?) like a pro . I'm guessing Tywin names the Mountain as his Champion. I like the point you made about how Tywin gets screwed if Jaime fights for Tyrion and dies because he loses both his male heirs.

Yeah, I didn't watch the preview for next episode, and once I did, I think I have to agree with your Oberyn vs The Mountain theory. I still think Jaime is the perfect champion for finally helping the Lannister children thwart their father, but I don't know that I see it in the cards. It just makes so much sense. Tyrion wanted Jaime to be his champion in the Vale, and now he has an opportunity to fill in here. Bleh.

im at a loss at who will fight for tyrion.. I suspect jamie but figuring out game of thrones has been anything but predictable. Which is why we all like the show.. Always keeps us on our toes..
I have a feeling it will be Bronn again.. And they might set up something weird like Bronn fighting for tyrion where as jamie is forced to fight for the dead king.

i wonder if the oberyn vs mountain fight will be something separate or will be the trial. Sadly i dont see tyrion living much longer. Killer acting by peter dinklage

Tywin fucked up. He got everything he wanted, but then he just had to bring out Shae to rub the victory in Tyrion's face and rile him up.

Wow god damn the last 5 minutes were intense. Fuuuck I can't wait until the next episode.

I guess choosing Jaime as his champion would be mostly a win-win for Tyrion, right? If he loses, and assuming that the champion has to die in order to lose the duel, Jaime would die, and the Lannisters will lose their name further down in history, just as Jaime described. And I think Tyrion is willing wager Jaime's life in order to call a bluff from the opposition. If Jaime wins the duel, Tyrion gets his freedom, and then it's done, right? The only way I can see Jaime winning the duel would be if the other side just throws the fight, so as to not piss off Tywin and the rest of the Lannisters. Then again, we're still unsure of just how much Jaime has improved since training with Bronn.
But then what if the Tyrion's opposition chooses their champion first, and they choose Jaime? Shiiieeet man. This episode got me so hyped for the next one!

best episode for me, holy shit. Just everything was amazing, I even enjoyed the dany scene a little bit. FUCK SHAE!!! I love the dynamic between Jaime and Tyrion. As for Theon, he had a chance, but he botched it. Is he really that far gone? I swear he hesitated during the shave scene when he heard of rob starks death. I wish he were rescued damn

Time for speculation: + Show Spoiler +Based on the trailer where we saw Oberyn fighting the Mountain, I'm guessing Tywin will declare The Mountain his champion and Tyrion will be able to convince Oberyn to fight for him because he hates the Mountain for killing his sister. Although that does seem like it would be a conflict of interest for a judge to fight in the trial by combat. Well I guess judges don't matter anymore for a 1v1 fight to the death. God I'm hoping this happens!
Yeah, that's a pretty good guess.
+ Show Spoiler +I think Oberyn will be Tyrion's champion, and the Mountain will be Tywins. It'd be really awesome for Oberyn to win too. He'd basically be carrying out the revenge for everyone who has anything against the Lannisters. Would be just epic.
Would also be the first time in a long time that things actually went bad for the Lannisters. Everything is in place for their demise too. They're out of money, no real heir right now, and their allies are seeing them as less useful.

Just because you choose someone to be your champion, doesn't mean they are forced to accept.

He's been being tortured for a long time. I mean look at his body when he takes his clothes of, he got tortured to hell. He had his chance of escape, but with all the mental games played by Ramsey and torture, he didn't want to chance it being a trick or anything. If he had almost escaped but failed he would be put right back on the cross and tortured again which he didn't want to chance at all.
