Just thinking about it: a) she wants the poison in her possession for as short a time as possible (takes from Sansa right before using) to limit the odds of someone seeing her with it. b) whenever the poison isn't in her hand it can't be traced back to her house (in Sansa's possession). c) Sansa and the fool are natural decoys (both hate the king). d) the poison could have been sourced from a foreign country, or at least a place foreign to Highgarden (e.g. not derived from a local plant). if so, having a 3rd party contact (fool and Sansa) to receive the poison would have made it harder to trace back to the Tyrells. e) Sansa (Tyrion's wife) is now missing making Tyrion look more guilty (fall guy). f) if Sansa is caught they'll find her necklace missing a stone (fall guy is even more guilty). If the main goal is not getting caught (and I think it was) than it is a pretty good plan!

if Cersei still gets married to Loras, does Loras become King? I definitely do not believe poison cake killed Joffrey

Officially no, since the previous king, Robert, has direct heir to the throne - Tomen and Myrcella, although they are not really his children.

I hope that's not the case because that would be really fucking lame. If it is from the books perhaps it works because of more story telling around the birds/scene in question but the way it was presented in the show, it would be pretty silly. I hope it's just everyone being nuts. I can't think of any type of bacteria or infection you could get from eating a dead bird, or in this case cake that has come in contact with dead bird, that would kill you in 45 seconds. That's straight up poison.

I was just saying it would be gross to eat cake that had live or dead birds in it not that the birds were poisoned or something. also I have not read the books

I never expected an event of this magnitude so early in the season. If this was only episode 2, i wonder what the season's climax in episode 9 will be.

Either way the Lannisters would be in big trouble. They better watch him day and night and taste have all his food tasted now. Actually, it could be argued whether Myrcella or Tommen have the bigger rights to the throne. Tommen is the son but Myrcella is the older child, so it really depends. After them, it really gets chaotic and basically the party with the biggest stick will take the throne. If the children are not a factor anymore, both Stannis and the Queen-Regent Cersey can make claims to the throne.
