All I can think of, really, is that they might be building up to a good ending for those people. They dumped the unfortunate stuff, like Deb's shit job and Quinn/Jamie's shit relationship, and Masuka's lame life by giving him someone important. Now all the characters have something good so that the show will end up on a good note to some extent for them... I could be completely wrong but I expect that we'll get some 3-minute long happily-ever-after at the end of the last episode, for every character that's not Dexter... Or alternatively the writers are giving everybody nice things so that they can then take them away. Also I wanted to say, I liked how Dexter became a good guy suddenly. Click. "I'd rather be with her". And now he sees clearly with the flip of a switch. No build up, nothing. The writers were just like "oh shit we're running out of time, let's modify Dexter's psyche". This is insulting my intelligence, I feel ;(

Would Dexter be on the run, with people having found out who he was? Would we see him get caught, get some scenes with him in prison, seeing interrogations and all the way until death penalty? How would he deal with other inmates? Would he be a shell of himself, or would it be kind of therapeutic for him? Would he kill himself if he got caught? Would we see him move out of the country when he sensed he was about to get discovered? There are so many GOOD ways to have a final season of Dexter that this is just inexcusable. IMO, the final season of Dexter should've done away almost entirely with the side cast, besides reminding us that they are still working and alive, and focused just on him in one of the scenarios above or something to that extent (I personally would've preferred him getting caught and seeing him go nuts in prison until his death). I hope to god that we don't get a "fantasy ending" with Dexter getting away no prob. I hope he gets killed or caught at least, even if we don't get to see what would've definitely been interesting scenes after his capture. IMO, Dexter getting away even if Debra or anyone else dies is a fantasy ending at this point. I haven't watched season 7 or 8, but I might watch tonight just to see the end, sad as I know it will be.

I thought its a given that dexter's gonna die in the finale or some very bad shits gonna happen to him, just like whats happening in breaking bad. You cant have a life full of crime and not have karma catch up with you. Dexter also makes it seem like its really easy to get away with killing - just chop them up into plastic bags and dump them in the ocean. I hope nobody is dumb enough to believe its that easy..

I really can't see an ending now which let's Dexter live at the end. So i am much more interested in what will hapen with the other characters. Will we get full closure on them aswell? If Dexter dies but Harrison lives I can't help but be curious about what will happen with him. Can't wait for the last episode even though I'm sad to see the series end.

Well, nobody like that has been caught yet, so maybe it is that easy :pTonight, Dexter will be chopped up and dumped in the sea to be forgotten. And I mean the show (though I wouldn't mind if that's what happens to the character either); it's been very bad for very long. In fact, t's been bad for way longer than it had ever been good.

In theory, it works pretty well, but the show is extremely forgiving of people happening to see a man pull up in the earliest hours of the morning, taking several trash bags from his car, transporting them to his boat, and then dumping them in the sea. In all reality, someone would eventually be suspicious of this and he would be reported. The show overlooks random events that happen in life purely because of the fact it is just a tv show. Who knows how this will end. If it ended anything like Burn Notice did, I will be rather disappointed. Despite all of the shittiness that arises from the past 2 or 3 seasons, the finales have always at least cancelled out the bad parts of that season, deb catching him, laguerta's death, etc.

I had really mixed feelings on that finale. + Show Spoiler + I felt it completely ignored how much he cared about the organization and how much he despised the CIA. At the end he just captures the main villain and trades it to the CIA ignoring how much he liked and agreed with his cause. That kind of killed it for me, but besides that I read an interview with Matt Nyx about the final and I'd agree with it mostly and I felt he did quite a few good things, but that one glaring contradiction just felt very meh. Although I guess the argument could be made that he cared more about Fiona/his friends then he did about what is right or wrong in regards to the CIA and the world at large. If he took the perspective that in the end, the only thing that matters is his personal happiness and the safety of his family/friends. If he had that revelation then it would make sense, but I didn't feel they made that clear if that was the case.

1 & 4 were the best, but people tend to overstate how the show has 'gone to shit' or 'been completely awful' or whatever.

+ Show Spoiler + So this is how Dexter ends. Not with a bang, not even with a scream, but with an awkward cough and a shrug. Hannah and Harrison get away scot free because Elway decides to continue his trend of being useless despite having the capability of having a decent character. Deb "dies" offscreen. Quinn still gets no development. Dexter imitates Wolverine from Origins. I feel insulted. At least Saxxon's death scene was cool, nice to see Dexter return to form for one last kill. Dexter dumping Deb felt like it had a bit of closure, and the boat scene was well shot, with decent symbology of Dex getting rid of the last thing tying him to humanity, so to speak, but it would have felt better in any other season or any other story ever. You know, I probably wouldn't be so pissed at this ending (Deb dying, Dexter running and hiding, Hannah leaving for good (again), if the rest of the season wasn't such shit. Any other build up to this point would have felt great, instead we got shitty Brain Surgeon and shitty Vogel and shitty Zach storylines and it ruined what had the potential to be a grand farewell. So long Dexter. I'll remember at least most of your seasons with fondness.

+ Show Spoiler + Thank fucking christ. I can tell a woman wrote this. With more cliches than a soap opera, they managed to take what could have been a pretty solid ending, and totally fucked it. Also, Elway? Nah, we'll thwart his scheme(if you can call it that) and waste every bit of potential we had with his character. That was literally Isaak from season 7. And that ending. I won't even bother. What a total piece of shit. While he could have been free if he chose Sonya in the end, he would have become exactly what he hated about James all along. Basically, why bother with any of it, when I can just be done with it all forever and live out a peaceful existence? Yeah it was as fairy-tale ending as it gets for the most part, but I liked the idea of choosing neither the CIA or James' organization in the end.
