I'm not sure what chapter the fillers ended, I only started reading again when Nagato/Pain was kicking everyone's ass in Konoha.

Madara was the shoo-in to be his brother I would think, in the one panel we see him he's got the same hair, only who knows what he was actually like, some backstory on him would be cool. Talking of backstory, we still don't know a fucking thing about Yamato. The only backstory is in a filler arc, so it's debatable whether that should be accepted, but that filler did show one thing, how he started on a mission to kill Kakashi and later turned. It raises a question, was he pulling the same thing here, simply biding his time so he could fulfill his real objective? Or was it a legitimate change of heart, and something else is going on? And if he really was waiting as a double agent like that, why not just let the Kyuubi run rampant way back when, take him immediately using his powers, and begin the plan that much earlier? Well, I don't know, BECAUSE WE DON'T KNOW SHIT YET. Also, people called the Kaguya thing a way off, I just didn't think it would happen, and not like that. Kinda silly. An inner conflict suddenly striking Madara like a wicked headache would have been more acceptable. I mean, Hagoromo appeared to Naruto and Sasuke, why wouldn't a similar thing happen to Madara? I would have bought that.

If you are a fan and you just wanted closure then yes but the quality of the manga has been garbage ever since the pain invasion arc. And it keeps going downhill into ridiculous levels.

I would say yes. Since the appearance of the Juubi, power levels have sort of shot into space, which sucks, but otherwise the plot's still chugging along, and that's always been good imo. It still has its moments despite the strangeness, and going back 2 years there's a lot of 'em I'm sure.

I would say you should. As mentioned, the current arc has been going on for that long as hard as it is to believe lol. The story is wacky but I still believe it's worth to read through it to catch up. It's still not over yet and has some good and bizzare moments that are sure to make you smile and cry at the same time lol

Keeping up with the anime when you have fillers and the manga was so far ahead was terrible lol. Having said that, I don't mind watching the 'exciting episodes' and do miss some of the earlier episodes (before Shippuden though Pain crushing Konoha was great :D).

Having said that, I don't mind watching the 'exciting episodes' and do miss some of the earlier episodes (before Shippuden though Pain crushing Konoha was great :D). Moments like Pain crushing Konoha, and Madara destroying that army, were extremely awesome, but I don't think we can get any more of those moments, the last one like that is probably going to be the old fight between Hashirama and Madara. Once the Juubi appeared, the power levels have sort of hit a point of no return - and the greatest thing about those moments from before is the fact that someone was capable of things like that, when we were acutely aware of how limited peoples' powers are normally, so seeing someone pulling off a feat like that really stood out, and now it really wouldn't. Like Sasuke's Susano'o now, it's the same as Madara's giant Susano'o when he crushed the 5 kages. When I saw it the first time, I thought that shit was insane, it was awesome, and really established how much of a bamf Madara was. Now that we're in the endgame though, seeing that same power doesn't do much, things have escalated even higher than that now. Thanks for the post btw, I was wondering what it was that made earlier fights so much cooler, and thinking about that put all the pieces in place for me. It's really in the limitations and rules within the world we're dealing with. It roots the people down to more relate-able levels, and so we can appreciate when they do something that pushes or momentarily breaks those limits. Once things start reaching into space, it's hard to relate, it becomes a bunch of yeah whatever.

It roots the people down to more relate-able levels, and so we can appreciate when they do something that pushes or momentarily breaks those limits. Once things start reaching into space, it's hard to relate, it becomes a bunch of yeah whatever. ya exactly. Back in the first Naruto, seeing even the Sharingan or the Byakugan in action, it was an 'awe' moment. Being able to hit the tenketsu or predict the opponent's movement as well as copy them was out of this world. Even when we got Susanoo from Itachi, Tsukuyomi etc... all wonderful moments. Hearing about how Madara and Hashirama were two uber ninjas and how Hashirama is the best with some of those old stories was amazing. Pain crushing Konoha using Shinra Tensei is another of those moments, "this is fucking OP but I love it". You can tell he's on a totally different level to everyone there just because of what he was able to do. While there are still some cool action scenes and moves here and there, it feels like just mass spamming moves since they have started facing Madara. I doubt we'll get anymore of those moments since we've seen most things anyways and as you mentioned, the whole power scale doesn't make sense anymore lol. Guess it's a sign that the manga is coming to an end soon enough. @bolded thanking my post or someone else's? lol. If mine, no problem, anytime. If not, you didn't read this ![]()

The last chapter's twist reminded me of the plot of many of the classic Final Fantasy games where there's always a bigger villain behind the main villain.

Only Kaguya has been a recent but understandable addition to that roster. The story has just reached the level where those ninjas with the god tier powers are the only ones that matter now. We're pretty much near the conclusion. It's like a video game where we've reached the final dungeon and the main character now knows his destiny. The last chapter's twist reminded me of the plot of many of the classic Final Fantasy games where there's always a bigger villain behind the main villain. Most of them, yes, but all the ones that matter right now have gotten so powerful, it makes everyone else powerless and irrelevant - a fact compounded by their being captured in the Mugen Tsukuyomi.
