I think the most important part was that Obito knew that he didn't kill her on purpose and still decided to go with his plan so it wasn't due to Rin etc..

weve known for ages that hes not motivated through personal pain anymore and has looked at the current world and realised its beyond redemption and decided to go through with the only plan that (assuming it actually gets completed) has a 100% chance of working
thats why Noone will ever talk-no-jutsu him because quite frankly hes right, his way of doing this is the most correct, most effecient way to end all war and suffering in order to convince him youd have to convince him to settle for second best

this is the first time in all of the manga that the subject is brought up and he states that it wasn't due to Rin otherwise everyone at one point was speculating that it would be stupid if Rin dying was what caused him to go through with the plan and such.

Is it just me or are the protagonists always really lucky in Naruto. I mean they always manage to get the opponent that they can barely beat. Imagine how many times Naruto would have died had he faced the wrong opponent by luck he would have been dead already.
