To the best of my recollection, which I admit is quite terrible, there was never any mention of his own chakra pool being small (Naruto's is abnormally large, plus he can draw from the Nine-tails as well). I only recall him saying the Sharingan is a Kekkei Genkai passed down through the Uchiha bloodline and since he is not a Uchiha, it takes a lot more chakra for him to use the Sharingan, comparatively speaking.

you are right, kakashi says his chakra pool is small but it was never mentioned that the uchiha had a abnormal high chakra pool, the uzumaki was known for that... but it could be than a few uchihas had a larger pool just cause they born like that the same way that some ninja have a especific element or a special hability...

Anyway, since the Mist ninjas want to take Rin´s body, it´s more plausible that she is indeed a double agent. It´s established that people can pry the secrets of techniques from a dead body, so she either has a special jutsu from konoha(unlikely) or she had jutsu from the mist village(used on her or used herself).
It´s possible though that the mist ninjas were given false information("That girl is a valuable kekkei genkai that turns people into super saiyans and shit, yo"). We know that the blood mist village was controlled by an outside force that had control over the mizukage.

It would make sense that Kakashi unlocked the Mangekyo before the Naruto story started but he just couldn't use it. You can see that Kakashi looked perfectly healthy in this chapter but as soon as the Mangekyo unlocked it drained all of his chakra and one shotted him http://mangastream.com/read/naruto/45728229/9. This explains why he never used his Mangekyo pre timeskip, its because he couldnt. Obito could spammed MS because it was his eyes therefore it didnt take 2x the chakra to use + he is an uchia and they have larger chakra reserves + he was infused with hashirama cell. The only question is though, WHY ISNT OBITO BLIND? Sasuke spammed his MS for a couple of months (ish) and he went nearly blind. Obito must have had his mangekyo what.. 10-20 years? Also, i think Kakashi isnt blind yet because its a transferred eye and transferred eyes never go bad (why madara took his brother's eyes).
Also... wasnt the mist became the bloody mist because of Obito manipulating them?? Then why are they the bloody mist now? And wasnt the 4th made Hokage AFTER the war? And if he wasnt, why would you send out a Hokage on the battlefield?

Obito used Transparent-No-Jutsu when he was being crushed, so it might not be a Mangekyo power. I think he´s used it before many, many times without using the MS-eyes. If Obito never used the MS-powers of his eyes, then that´s a reason why he´s not blind yet.
Or Transparent-No-Jutsu is his MS-power, which fits perfectly with Kakashis eye, but he´s only strained his eyes by using the jutsu for the full 5 minutes a few times, unlike Sasuke and Itachi who blasts away with their MS-powers all the time until their eyes bleed.
