Zetsu did tell Obito last episode that by combining the Uchiha and Senju abilities we might get to see a never before seen power. Also I think this was all just a setup by Madara for Obito to obtain the MS and get him inspired for the moons eye plan.

Interesting little side note - Obito did not obtain the MS himself. It was actually Kakashi that got it, and Obito got it by proxy.

Yes, but Kakashi was the one who killed Rin - who was the closest person to both of them. Thus Obito didn't actually "kill" anyone to receive his MS.

The combination of Uchiha and Senju abilities could very well explain why Obito was able to spontaneously use these unknown jutsus and the mangekyo sharingan itself.
There was some previous speculation in the last chapter that Madara had a hand in this, because after all the 4th Mizukage was under his control. Although I can't really remember what time frame the 4th Mizukage ruled over and whether it was during the era when the Mist was known as "Bloody Mist".
Obito would have gained the mangeyko sharingan regardless of whether he was there or not I think...since he could even see through Kakashi's eyes from far away it is feasible he could gain the mangekyo sharingan still without actually being there. The requirements just state for the sharingan user to kill their best friend, not to feel any emotions or anything. So Obito, in essence, doesn't have to be there as Kakashi fulfilled that requirement himself. Therefore Obito would gain the mangekyo sharingan along with Kakashi.

the whole last couple chapters showed that Obitos and Kakshis eyes are still closely connected, Obito even got some visual feed from the eye
arent the "unkown jutsu" being used jsut the 1st wood techniques? Obito got half his body replaced by Senju clone and is wearing another senju clone so he can definently use wood techniques
Yamamoto obviously couldnt possibly have had a teacher in wood techniques and considering him and Haku we know Kekkai Genkai techniques are pretty mcuh intuitive stuff that you just know (thought mastery isnt instant) so its not odd in the least hes pulling off all these jutsus, the only special thing is hes using more advanced techniques then Zetsu thought he would, hence the comment
