If he wants to start a new series that ONLY focuses on the new generation and has Naruto and company be involved as much as the 3rd and stuff was I guess it could work? But even then its still pretty meh as Kishi showed with this little after story that he doesn't know wtf to do anymore with this world. Well, I want to see the new generation. Basically, have Kishi take it back to when Naruto first started but have them learn different moves and different life struggles. Imagine the Chunnin exams all over again but different in how they are implemented etc... would be awesome imo so long as Kishi focuses on the kids with some appearance here and there of Naruto, Sasuke and Sakura.

naruto and sasuke are no contest in the narutoverse now .. no contest especially since all the dead can't be revived back (assuming kishi doesn't pull out some BS again)

The Naruto world is so boring. There's too much going for it. They have modern-day technology, everyone is at peace, the main characters have completed their character arcs, there's no more legitimate threats... and nobody ever fucking dies. Tell me you wouldn't love to see 80% of Kohona wiped out right now. Have Naruto, Sasuke, all of the old guard just die off and throw the world into an apocalyptic scenario. Then Bolt would have to unite the scattered remnants and rebuild the world while fighting off raiders and shit. That would be awesome. That would get me excited. This side adventure has no real conflict whatsoever. There's nothing at stake.

No, the Narutoverse is absolutely fascinating for me. It is pretty unique, I agree that the introduction of modern technology wasn't a good idea (I thought that the mix at the start of the series was pretty good though), but you can immerse yourself in it just like One Piece.
The problem was that the world was simplified and thinned out during the course of the series. Blood Limits? By the end of the series the only important one was the Uchihas, and it turns out that quite a few of the other characters are Uzumakis. Everyone else kind of drifted into the backdrop, and very little story was given to them. I mean, this short series is the pinnacle of butchering of the almost endless variety that the Narutoverse hinted at during the course of the series. Everybody wants Sharingans, everybody has Sharingan, everything else is crap except Tailed Beast Chakra. Zero variety, by the end of the original series there was also little unique or new ninja techniques.
The series dug it's own grave with the way it ended: The whole ninja world being united means that there is no real enemy anymore, the last real threat to them was Madara. There is nothing wrong with that, but as you saw in this spin off, it wasn't really possible to create a real conflict, Naruto and Sasuke were already ridiculously powerful before they met the Sage, after the fight with super-OP-mom the series firmly pressed it into our heads that there is absolutely nothing that could hope to beat them. The fact Naruto gets injured fighting those imposter Uchihas and Sasuke doesn't wipe the floor with them was almost contradictory to what we learned before.
I personally would have loved to see the world in the years after the death of Sasuke and Naruto, like 100-200 years. That would get rid of all the stupidly strong ninjas, and it would have given the possibility for conflict to arise (rise of new evil organization, the seeds sown by Orochimaru experiments, corruption, relationships breaking etc). But tbh Naruto wasn't very deep by the end of the series (I think the last time I really felt emotion reading Naruto was the Pain arc), everything was pretty mellow afterwards, thematically and story construction wise.

That was when everybody on the naruto world suddenly got plot armor (yeah like 1 out of the 12 main genin of naruto's generation died at the end like every other character that people actually cared didn't die lol even the main enemies who has been enemies forever) .
After pain arc it went from "still ok" to "meh" to "not good" to "wtf are you doing kishi" to "why do i keep reading this".

I don't mind an epilogue like this. Part of the appeal of Japanese manga versus mainstream American comic books is that manga has an end. The only way Kishi could've stretched it out is to make the bad guys win their share of battles or drag certain storylines out more than he did. Creating conflict by having characters like Obito and Pain constantly do a Magneto flip flop special is not what manga is about.

I was always sad that Jiraiya didn't come back from that. I remember it coming out, and deep down I was hoping Pervy Sensei would pop up at some point later.
Yeah, Pain was a highlight for me as well, everything else went downhill. Specifically the character development of Sasuke, he turned into a mindless slave, and his logic was pretty twisted. He didn't go down the path of darkness because it was the only way to achieve his goals, he went down it because Madara told him some 'stuff', and he didn't bat an eye over validity nor Madara's plans.

What made it weirder was he fought Danzo who was pretty much spot on. Sure he was an evil cunt himself but he called that Sasuke was just being an evil douche for reasons that don't make sense. At that point all he was doing was ruining what Itachi did. And somehow this just pissed Sauske off and made him even more evil.

Nah, Jiraya had a really good death. It was poetic and helped Naruto become the man he is today. Every good character deserves a really good death. This is something most Shonen authors don't seem to understand.

Most shonen authors given them good deaths only to resurrect them later... making the act kinda meaningless.
One Piece and the Alabasta arc are probably the worst offender of all.

Cause more women in refrigerators = more character development.

just finished reading naruto from start to finish
i started skipping some of the dialogues near the end because it was getting tiresome but overall it was great, the madara guy and the tobi guy and the mother nature person can all shut up for all i care. naruto was probably really tedious to those who were reading it before it finished :p
i'm glad sasuke finally stopped being an idiot at the end
itachi was obviously the coolest character
but yeah, overall i really liked naruto
edit: wait is the spin off over?
is this the TRUE end of naruto?
