I'm gonna agree with that bigly. Right now U11 is definitely not winning - there has to be a good reason why Jiren's not going on a decimating spree. The stamina angle makes most sense, here's hoping that Hit's special really depleted him. By relativity theory logic, it should have. By Dragonball logic.... Arale.

U2's ace confirmed?

But yeah, based on previous sagas and whatnot, we have every reason to believe someone that much stronger than everyone else would be able to dart around the stage knocking every shmuck out of here. The fact that he was basically as still as possible for the entire match except for the exact moments he was needed says a lot. It is also worth noting he barely made it out of Hit's attack. Hit got pretty damn close all things considered. The fact that Jiren and Toppo were both like "Yeah, Jiren should totally rest now", and the fact that this happened so immediately makes me think Jiren is somewhat of a glass cannon stamina wise. Like an insane version of early golden frieza.

I think it's as simple as exercising strategic prudence for Jiren. Going in, he's the strongest fighter there by a large margin, so the only way you lose is by drawing attention to that fact and making people team up on you. Battle royale 101, you don't simply win by being the strongest. There's a large number of fighters who simply can't touch him, but you don't take that chance when your universe is at stake. I think he's just being established as a character who is as careful and intelligent as he is strong.

He's done very little so far, and yet it's built his character up so much, and he very clearly stands out among all the nobodies on the field. I actually like how he's being handled.

So why meditate? Why not just wander around scoping everyone else out the same way he was for the first portion of the tournament? The idea that he just wants to be even more chill just sounds too outrageous. Just wait 20 fucking minutes before meditating, Jiren. Also, how the fuck is someone meditating around explosions. This whole meditating thing has got me squinting really hard.

He's ankle-grabbed notorious show-off Goku couple times, and repelled a ball of energy the size of the arena with his mere eyes. I think it's safe to say by now other fighters are well aware.

You say that, but after seeing Goku get completely rekt, 2 nobodies just walked up and got jobbed by his aura shield. Which sort of brings up the idea of how his energy is just passively strong enough to repel the strongest fighters from other universes. If he's emanating that kind of strength just chilling, it seems unlikely that he'll just run out of steam if Goku just pushes him for a bit longer.

I just think it's generally a mistake to read too much into anything in the Dragonball universe. I could still be wrong. I'd love to be, cus that would mean actually getting to see the fight and how it ends. Right now that feels real far away.

The only thing that could be reasonable is that he needs to recover, if not, then the meditating thing is just absurd, he could wipe all the other fighters in a blink, therefore save his universe faster.

He also must be at least a little more vulnerable in that state. Also leaves the possibility that toppo and dyspo get knocked out. There *must* be a strategic reason for the meditation.

He surely is more vulnerable, but the only reason he began meditating was because nobody left is strong enough to exploit this. He's conserving every last drop of power, to ensure he only fights when necessary, giving him the greatest chance of being the last person standing. It could be he's recovering energy, but that's not necessarily the case. Conservation seems more likely.

This is only strategy in anime town where plot progression is needed (which is fine). The one not other reason may be it would be boring and they are worried the zenos would have a tantrum and go all DELETE on everything.

Let's face it, in a practical fight if you have no opposition left, you simply would end the fight at that point.

I want the next DBS movie to center around Monaka brutally training Jiren into the man we see today. I imagine a situation similar to Vegeta training Trunks.

So....rewatching a couple of things.

Jiren doesn't seem to be the cocky type. He aknoledges his strenght, but he neither presumes, nor draws unnecessary attention to himself. I don't think it's a coincidence he didn't do anything for half the tournament, not even help his other fellow universe 11 allies. The only thing he did was stop Kale as she was out of control. Then they told him to take out goku. He let goku create the spirit bomb, in one of the translations I saw he said it was "because it was an important technique" for goku, even if that translation is wrong he seems to have honor. Part of the reason he let goku do it was to crush it to make his strenght more apparent. Then he fought with hit, he didn't plan that fight, and he almost got pushed out of the stafe, and then he was contained but hit didn't have enough energy to keep him that way. After that he inmediatelly went to meditate. Both Dyspo and Toppo stood there to protect him. Sure he has the Ki-Barrier, but they both tried to protect him hinting that he was vulnerable.

All in all, since the beggining, Jiren has show little burst of strenght and then resting after that. It doesn't make sense he would meditate. He saw Goku still alive, he knows Kale is still around, he saw dyspo getting his ass kicked by SSG goku so Vegeta and Frezzer could do that too. Why not simply stay there doing something else or doing nothing like he was doing before. I don't think he is cocky, so starting to meditate seems out of character.

Finally when he fighted with Goku ,Toppo mentioned that Jiren wanted the super dragon balls and the way he said it (maybe I'm assumed to much) made it seem he wanted it for something important. So I agree with others that Jirens power might have a limit, and it might not be in his strenght. Furthermore there must be a reason why Toppo is the leader of the team.

This scene from before the tournament has probably nothing to do with this but I wanted to know your opinion guys. What do you think about it?

jiren is meditating because he is a badass and gives 0 fvcks about the loser peasant ants around him. with one minute left in the super tourney, he can just look the remaining failures in the eye and they will literally be knocked off the ledge due to his awesome power. people overthinking it

Yeah people are definitely overthinking it. I saw a lot of people that thought Hit attacked Jiren because he was hired for a contract. People love to overthink things.

I love the internet.

Has anyone went back to see how different the subtitled vs English versions of translations are?

I honestly can't wait to hear how the English dub is going deal with U2's silly love stuff in the tournament.
Or half the names of the attacks that are used. I guess the English version is a bit more toned down in that regard.

Great episode tonight. Vegeta cements himself as best Saiyan. Cabba was honorable and young Gohan. Caulifa is looking for that next stage boost (SSJ3?) Gohan refuses to go SSJ still. Piccolo almost lost another arm. Freeza is the most evil villain in DB. Cell is all but forgotten now.
