![]() The Road to Serfdom. A bit disappointing. He's fighting a real and dangerous ennemy - that was indeed the majority of self-called socialist at the time- but his arguments are so far too often dodgy. He for instance declares that without economic freedom there is no freedom, I am tempted to read that as a moral stance against wage labour. (Edit : he answers that at the end of chapter VII. I am then very sorry for the poor rich people who are apparently deprived of any freedom to choose). The way he sticks words onto people is also pretty funny. "They are well intentionned, but they are leading us toward nazism" is applied to so many categories that one does wonder who is not playing for nazis in Hayek minds. I mean, even people who think "laissez-faire" should have no exception are culprit of that, seriously... And the great nazi thinker, Thomas Carlyle, is that serious ? (apparently in part yes according to wikiberal...) On the other hand Thucydides and Pericles apparently are great liberal heroes... Pericles, the guy who defended the law that drastically reduced access to athenian citizenship ? Sounds like a cult of heroes, am I reading Carlyle ? And the classic socialism (on which is artificially stickied the "plannist" term with a few circonvolutions, wich is not without merit for polemic reasons at the time but is highly dubious on a theoric standpoint) hasn't been tried but it can't work and liberalism hasn't been tried either but it can work. At least he's not as dumb as all those french intellectual who were still defending Staline at the time or those who defended Mao in the late 70s... The funniest part he's that he's probably less liberal than Emmanuel Macron.

At least this one is short and repetitive. Almost done... Probably worth it though. Also read some Imre Kertesz (Kaddish...), a book about how one can live after Auschwitz, never telling the story itdelf. Pretty good.

![]() 2nd part of the Mistborn Trilogy + Show Spoiler + this is definetely better than the first book . the conclusion is interesting and i love the portrayal of governing a city under siege as well as the latest book of I am number four (2nd to the final book i hope) ![]() + Show Spoiler + ugh i have to wait for another year .. the one thing i enjoyed about this book that it's shown that Sentrakus Ra isn't invulnerable like how he was presented in the previous books and the death of the main female lead character woooo i didn't really like her she was more of an ideal flawless woman rather a character with problems probably the best out of all the books in the saga imo
