When I first got into this show, there was one big moment where I knew I was caught up in it forever. It was when I found myself rewinding episode 12 for the third time just to listen to Winter Wrap Up. I did it again with Smile. Because Daniel Ingram is fucking amazing. I loved the episode, too. The ending was abrupt and obvious, but it didn't ruin my enjoyment of it much. Also, Rainbow Dash reading continuity. Aawww yeah. | ||

+ Show Spoiler + For the first five minutes of the episode (including the first song), I actually thought it might be the first episode I could really single out as the worst episode of all. It's not that I didn't like the song, it wasn't a bad song at all, but it just felt like there was no significance to it in relation to the plot of the given episode. It felt like there was no story behind it because it really had no direction (or so I thought not knowing the context). However, my doubts were quickly put to rest the second I saw where they were going with it when the grumpy donkey made his debut and it turned out to be a really great episode (and the 2nd and 3rd mini-songs were both great). Watching it a second time will probably not be nearly as bad for the first 5 minutes because I will know that it all wraps into a relevant plot and tied in very nicely to the rest of the episode. | ||

Good songs, good last 2 minutes, and good moral. But there was a little bit too much... pinkie craziness for my taste, a cold open (not necessarily good or bad), way too many human poses, and a pretty big Deus Ex. Overall a good episode. | ||
