[02:37] tt [02:37] i need someone to help soften this bed with me [02:37] *come-hither wet rarity eyes*
[02:39] rarity is into bondage [02:39] today when us van bronies watched winter wrapup we determined that twi likes bondage secretly [02:39] and she gets freaky occasionally
[02:41] she's that typical hot sex starved nerd that nobody sees for what she is [02:42] so when she gets any she gets ultra freaky [02:42] <+perilouspillow> as an impressionable young girl, i don't know if i should be amused or disturbed by all this
[02:42] rarity just loves her bondage [02:42] LOL [02:42] twi owns a saddle [02:42] and rarity had a bridle in faust's orignal pitch [02:42] saddle/bridle = bondage with MLP [02:42] <+Frekavichk> eh [02:42] <+Frekavichk> twait no [02:42] <+Frekavichk> you are wrong [02:43] yes it is, it's like a human with bondage geaer [02:43] nope [02:43] <+Frekavichk> twi has a saddle for practical purposes [02:43] <+Frekavichk> like holding books [02:43] <+Frekavichk> that would be like saying backpacks were bondage [02:43] or ponies to ride her [02:43] books are a front [02:43] <+Frekavichk> so twi is the submissive and spike is the dominant? [02:43] <+Frekavichk> lulz [02:44] as i said, freaky as shit oncethe best is unleashed
I too have to wonder why people may associate you with clop.
This is so aggravating to me, hahahah. For being so solid at composition and having access to high quality VSTs, the composer sure is having a hard time making the instruments sound real. Good lord, it's so badly synthesized. =)
I'm going to bet that it's not synthesized, but rather made with a sample library. Not sure how atuned your ears are to this sort of thing, but I'll bet that the thing that is bugging you is the over-compression and generally poor mixing and mastering. Yes, there are other things wrong (like poor articulation manipulation, general lack of shaping between phrases, and overuse of brass instruments, which will never, ever, ever sound good unless it's live).
Actually, having listened to it more now, I'll bet that he/she's just got a hard limiter that's squashing it.
But yeah, kudos on the composition/instrumentation parts. The percussion is actually used more or less appropriately, something I always have a hard time with.

I should have realized people here would understand if I just called it a sampler. =) Yeah, that's pretty much what's bugging me, although I shouldn't throw stones; I have issues with it as well. But really, it's just that some things were very, very noticeably fake (the strings... oh, god, the strings), and brass instruments never sound quite right no matter how much effort you put into it.
That said, sampled brass instruments can sound decent if used right, and sparingly.
Above is part of an unfinished track I'm working on at the moment. 1:02 - 1:24 has decent sounding horns, and they're in the background. But the track also simultaneously proves you right - 1:24 and out is pretty much that.
But at least I get practice with composition and instrumentation, even if I'm still struggling with the rest.
So most of you already know this, but the Pony Minecraft server won't be up tonight. (Oh, by the way, we're making a Pony Minecraft server.) Extremely long story short: I ran into infinity problems with my ISP / modem / switch / router / everything in between, and it took most of the day just getting stuff back to the way they were before I foolishly believed that connecting a computer to the internet would be a completely reasonable idea.
I'm calling my ISP tomorrow about this to see if they can flush the system and get rid of the old MAC IDs or whatever, and try again. It's all I've got right now. So, again. No Minecraft tonight. Will try tomorrow.
I'll do up a much more detailed post later once I get shit up and running, but for now, if you're interested in making TeamLiquid's Bronyville with us, I recommend hitting this link:
It changes the models/skins of the characters to ponies. I recommend installing the ModLoader version of this mod. It's not hard (and the installation instructions on that site are very good), but again, I'll be adding detailed how-to instructions here on TL if you're having problems.
Because my academic career at a sub-par state university is inherently unfulfilling, I've been looking for other academic pursuits to keep my brain from turning into a pile of mush. Strangely, the thing I've come up with is helping GaryOak with his MLP fan fiction. I think it'll be interesting to try to turn something inherently terrible (aka fanfiction) into something worthwhile. GaryOak is a good writer with an interesting story to tell, and we're making progress in trying to iron out what he calls the "deeper issues" of his fan fiction.
When critiquing his work, I use the words "weak", "bad", and "lifeless" a lot while not providing a lot of specific corrections. Most writers wouldn't put up for this for long but GaryOak seems to find our discussions helpful, so we've kept at it.
It's going to be a long time before the fanfic is done, since GaryOak isn't done with the first draft yet. It's really bad right now, as all first drafts are. But GaryOak knows what he needs to fix, and I have faith that the finished product will be something you love reading. Or hate reading, but for all the right reasons.
I guess the main point of this post is that I'm going to be posting random snippets of the IRC conversations that GaryOak and I have while doing revisions. Spoiler-free, of course.
Just me. Cracky joined tlponies last night, not sure how often he'll stop by, but yeah, that's it.
I didn't get to drink enough to get smashed, that's why my filming was so good. T_T I did try in the last 90 minutes though, was going 1/3 vodka/coke ratios. I guess I'm too man mode or something.
[Edit] Just read the post above me and I can verify that motbob is quite awesome.
Aylear, or Cane, whatever you want to be called, I'm glad that I can listen to it without noticing the things that you notice, but on the other hand I would have liked to be able to compose music Edit: It would be a crime not to have som pi references on this page
Thanks for the pics DuB! (and Aylear for the IRC spam! <3) Ponies for everypony I do love an image dump post...though its usually me requesting them rather than posting them I suppose xD
If there's a more subtle ponyshirt than that, I haven't seen it. I had to think about it for a few seconds... I prefer the ones that say, "AW YEAH, PONIES!", but there are some pretty awesome less-obvious ones. Gummy comes to mind. + Show Spoiler +
