this is a serious question
why the fuck do you all like this show so much? isnt this a little girls show? why is it that so many adult males seem to be riding this show day and night? i dont understand why THIS show?
someone tried to get me to watch an episode and was like "watch this just watch it" and i was waiting for like 5 minutes for some punch line or something and it never came, and then i was told there was no punch line, just that it was a good show to watch for character development or some such.

You might have noticed how ponies appear everywhere on the internet (like in this Forum). The first post in this threat should explain most of it.
Most people got curious because of all that attention and checked it out. It depends a lot on which episode you start. The first 2 episodes aren't real good examples of the show, but they keep you watching.
It's also important to note that this isn't the old My Little Pony. It's a new show produced by people who really put efford in the show.
The show was made by Lauren Faust to be an example of a girls show that isn't just crap. It's supposed to be entertaining for everyone, so including parents and therefore adults in general.
I for myself checked it out (kind of ironically) due to all the hipe, just to realize that this wasn't as bad as I expeceted it to be (being My Little Pony). It kept me watching and after some episodes you really get into it.
It's just not as stupid as you'd imagine and has a good amount of self-irony. Also the happy mood is very refreshing, it makes you smile at times. And it's solid quality work.
As I said it might take some episodes to get it. And if you don't; well it isn't for everyone.
Also is there so much fanstuff that it's worth checking out for that alone.

Well it gets funny only after you know the characters. In that sense the punchline is round about the fifth episode you watch but then you can go back and rewatch the first ones and they are also good.

Oh whoa, that is freakin' sweet! Damn, now I wish we had more crowd shots like at MLG. Spotting the Fluttershy at MLG was fun. Seeing that at DreamHack would have been glorious.
