Along with the general dialogue it leads me to think that they are desperately trying to use the same style that Community held for 3 seasons under Dan Harmon. Unfortunately the quality of writing is simply not there anymore and as much as I hate to say this it may be time to chang the show to suit the new writers instead of trying to recapture the spark that Harman held for 3 beautiful seasons. Community can still be streets ahead! Just in a different way ![]() *two beautiful season and one or two good extra episodes. Lets be honest here the third season was crap compared to the first two.

I can't imagine Shirley being ok with having a hole in her wall for a year, although I guess she could makeshift fix it and use it as door. Still it would be hard for her to fit through, but it could be possible. I liked how Troy and Annie initially wanted to come to Shirley's dinner only to realize her family dinner was just as bad as theirs. I would have liked them to more conclusively help Shirley, but it was still a warm episode overall more than a plain laughs episode even though it did have funny moments. Also I did not catch that the Dean was using Jeff's season 1 Halloween costume hence the Dean cutting him off before he could say anything.

It uses the story aspects unique to season 4 well and the plots of the two stories are well done. There are no really out there themes, Abed just projects his own story on the Shirley dinner, but it's still pretty grounded expect maybe what is revealed in the end. + Show Spoiler + I can't imagine Shirley being ok with having a hole in her wall for a year, although I guess she could makeshift fix it and use it as door. I guess this season started a little bit slow, but this one and the last one were both very solid. + Show Spoiler + I didn't catch the Dean using Jeff's old costume either, that was pretty funny.

I feel that they are in dire need of a paintball-like episode. Some transformation of genre peppered with irony of that topic. Like 'Troy unchained' or whatever...

They went full fucking big bang theory, because if you're terrible at writing your series just steal from another terrible one that hasn't been funny for 5 seasons. I'm guessing by the end of this season everyone's gonna be in a relationship with either copies of themselves or people they have 0 chemistry with, and with Jeff's resolving his father issues everyone's gonna be happy forever. Why the fuck am I still watching this?

Why the fuck am I still watching this? Agreed, that was absolutely the worst episode of community ever written and it's not even close. Not a laugh was had and I was actually angry watching it. This season has had a lot of range... the one before it with the "whale hunting" was really good and prob in the top 5 of the series overall, this one was absolute horse shit. The convention one was also really bad. I, too, immediately thought of Big Bang Theory watching it, only it was actually worse because it was not only humorless but it didn't have hot blondes with big tits.

The quality is still nowhere near the previous seasons but let us not forget what Community has given us. Therefore I propose that we nominate our best 5 episodes of Community (with honorable mentions, of course). 1. Modern Warfare The first time we realized that Community could produce ART in 20 minutes. This is the perfect episode that can be appreciated in isolation (comedy, action etc), and whilst defining a special episode, never overindulges to maintain that special balance that creates a timeless piece of television. 2. Remedial Chaos Theory Characterization and diversity. It's not about a single punch line. It's not about a single event. It represents the development of characters over the past two seasons in a pseudo-complex reality, culminated and transposed on the mundane. 3. Co-operative Calligraphy A bottle episode with our favorite characters. We know that they are friends but clearly they are so much more. They are a family (community). 4. Epidemiology I watched this episode and thought 'Cool!'. How it was integrated seamlessly into the (season) story I'll never know. 5. Advanced Dungeons and Dragons This was a difficult choice. But to integrate and tackle such a complex story matter without the use of special effects or 'nerdy' humor (the kind of humor that is stereotyped), deserves to be appropriately commended. HONORABLE MENTIONS, in order: Introduction to Statistics (the first great episode) Investigative Journalism (so good on so many levels) Contemporary American Poultry (A great Abed episode done well c.f. Critical Film Studies) Back Rocket Science (Another great spoof without being overdone) Intermediate Documentary Making (An amazing episode preceded by many good episodes and that may represent the high point of Community) A Fist Full of Paintball's (and its sequel) Basic Lupine Urology (another beautifully constructed spoof) Course Listing Unavailable (if nothing else, worthy of mention for asylum delusion) Digital Estate Planning (the last great episode) I fear that the first two (and to a lesser extent, the third) seasons are a once in a lifetime 'event' that will never be matched again.

Intermediate Documentary Filmmaking I never laughed harder at a community episode. The way they wrote Pierce in this episode was just fantastic. Troy freaking out over meeting LeVar was awesome. 2. Modern Warfare For all the reasons you just listed. 3. Advanced Dungeons and Dragons Same 4. Documentary Filmmaking: Redux I like how it really gave focus to Dean Pelton and explored his bizarre neuroses and made a few good/subtle pansexual jokes as well. Pelton is one of the funniest characters on the show and the most interestingly written; I like that a show can satirize political correctness, "tolerance", and "diversity" when taken to its logical extreme. 5. Economics of Marine Biology It was a smart commentary about the state of junior college in America and the types of students likely to attend. 6 would be Contemporary American Poultry. Buuuutttt anyway, last nights episode was another big disappointment. This show caught "big bang theory syndrome" pretty badly.

Maybe Community resembled Big Bang in the Whale episode but this episode resembles BB just because it deals with relationships? It was a funny episode with the Dean, Jeff and Shirley/Annie they also managed to take the not real body switch seriously and somewhat believable given their characters. Troy didn't know how to break up with Britta and so he came up with the body switch gimmick as a way to avoid dealing with heavy emotions.

A lot of fans hated the whole Britta and Troy relationship but that had been set up in season 3 so it's not really fair to blame it on 4. I was neutral on their relationship, Britta seemed like a good girlfriend and was very supportive of Troy's childishness, but I can see why people were saying that didn't work together. Community resembled Community in the whale episode, just lots of lightheartedness and jabs at the western community college system. It resembled Big Bang when it goes into relationship drama territory as the primary focus of the episode and has predictable and unfunny jokes.

Are more experienced GM's more descriptive and enthused? Players as well, I don't really enjoy watching this whatsoever, I'm more interested in participating.
