I don't understand their intention of seemingly bending backwards for someones like pewdiepie..
Is it that they have to redeem themselves after making a parody about him last episode? Is it because he actually does have that much influence? Is it simply South Park trying to choose the easy way?
That episode really gave a bad taste in my mouth. I think I'm done watching once again.

Seriously though, the whole point of the episode was to show that just because we don't share something with a new generation doesn't mean it's bad and stupid. It just means that different generations like different stuff, and trying to force what you liked as a kid on a new generation is just really, really dumb. Each generation has its own thing, and it doesn't matter whether you like it or not. We had playing videogames all day, the new generation has watching pewdiepie. Get over it.
They were building up to making this point in the last episode, and they delivered their point brilliantly in this episode.
That is why I love South Park and everything Matt & Trey do. They're not frozen in their own generation like so many writers and go "Look at these dumb kids watching dumb youtube videos all day hahahaha!", they actually understand what's going on.
Obligatory disclaimer: pewdiepie is the most annoying Youtube personality, ever. I don't like him. At all.

I know what the point was, they said it pretty explicitly. What I don't like is they used pewdiepie. Like.. I guess they did it for a reason, as in, use the most annoying childfriendly guy ever, but still. It still kinda rubs me the wrong way. I guess they're doing their trope again where they used a moral at the end of every episode. I know that's kind of their thing now, but there was this season where it was really big.. Have only watched South Park on and off so I don't really know which one, but I think you guys will haha

They made an episode about let's play video makers on youtube, so they picked the most popular one (by far) right now. What's wrong with that? The only reason I can think of is that you really don't like him, at which point I would refer you back to the point the episode was making.

Yes I know he's the most popular one. And you're right I don't really like him. Not that I just plain dislike him, I just don't find him funny or interesting or w/e. I guess video editing skills is a good thing to have nowadays.
Haven't they done this kind of moral before but with other things then? I mean, I know contemporary entertainment changes at an ever so increasing speed (kinda like the universe expanding huh, WOW so deep), but how they addressed the points kinda felt flat too I think. I was actually hoping for Mr Hanky to show up. They also just summoned him like some deus ex machina which felt completely rushed, but I guess that's again him not being for me I guess.
I guess I just wasn't happy with the pacing and overall progress of this episode aswell. The cop part was good though.

yep. the final episode/conclusion was kinda meh, though the season as a whole was very good.
