Yuss, Metal thread!

For me, Metal is more about the skill of the particular band than the genre itself. I don't really have a favorite genre of metal, but rather like a few bands from every genre. For example, I think a lot of Black Metal is pretty crappy, but I will definitely listen to Emperor and some of the other classic examples. So right now, here's what I'm listening to:

Tool
Dream Theater
Meshuggah
Pantera
Judas Priest
Emperor
Finntroll
Black Tide
Testament (I know, I know)
MASTODON (FUCK YEAH MASTODON)
Maximum the Hormone (more hardcore/metalcore than real metal, but whatevs)
Amon Amarth

If anyone wants to know more about these bands, ask, and I can post a history/recommend some songs!

:D Brootal thread going on here. Allow me to interject:

As I Lay Dying - A Christian Metal-core band. I don't listen to them because of their message, but their music is great. Their songs have a good message behind them nevertheless.

Here is a sample: Within Destruction - AILD

Cattle Decapitation: A grind-gore band. These guys are not only brutal but I love their messages. Environmental and Animal rights splurge through their music. A bit on the gory side, but that's why you gotta love em.

Here's a taste of brutality: A Body Farm - CD

I love both of these bands. Head bang on.

Found an old recording of Morbid Angels - Invocation of the Continual one. One of their best songs imo but hard to find any live records because they don't play songs from this era anymore

I have been on an instrumental kick. I love pretty much all of the metallica instrumentals... to live is to die is my favorite.

can anyone drop in a few good instrumentals here??
