It's a stereotype based very clearly on reality, as sad as that might be. Many, many metal bands focus on occult or otherwise anti-religious themes. Some, like Deicide, are very, very blatant about it. Others do it from a more intellectual, critical perspective (can't think of an example off the top of my head). However, metal has a history of being anti-religious, and that's why the recent Christian metal trend just seems so strange to me.

If you removed every breakdown in this song, you would have about 30 seconds of shit rather than 3 minutes. The chorus is auto tuned. The whiny screaming done by the pudgy guy is embarrassing to listen to.
Then comes the retarded dancing shit at 2:43. What the fuck. I bet you also listen to bring me the horizon.
yes i do and i posted them earlier and also im still waiting for you to explain how the lyrics are horse shit as you brought up before because im seriously wondering how anyone thinks this
The lyrics are horse shit because they are so generic and stupid, yea you died for your love and you are waiting lol awesome lets just scream the words so little 15 year olds will find meaning to their 2 week relationships in middle school
edit: thank jesus, show that kid whitechapel and stuff like that, those bands opened the doors for me
you obviously dont know shit if you think those lyrics are about relationships lets see here
He died for what He loved, and what he loved was you.
really if you think those 2 lines are about relationships then i dont expect you to understand what they actually mean
its about jesus -_- alot of their lyrics are about their faith in jesus christ and thats another reason why i love them and i figured the meaning to those lines would be obvious
so lets at more of their lyrics shall we ?
Get up, get up, He's calling your name, You don't have to be something you're not. Someday came suddenly and now I'm standing here.
this is about how for jesus to love you you dont have to pretend to be anything other then yourself i figured this would be obvious too but i guess its not to some people
and i do like job for a cowboy
jesus lyrics in stupid deathcore wannabe breakdowns ? ROFLROFL
read post above yours :/ and also since attack attack is deathcore i guess the devil wears prada is as well and their a christian band since you have trouble deciphering lyrics ill help you out
i'm going to hope for you, i'm going to pray for you amongst the wreckless and the black. salvation lies within. my time is your's my friend. we all find ourselves so horribly weak. oh God, here's an offering.
now im not going to explain it just post it but if you need help feel free to ask even tho this is an easy one
lol jesus lyrics in deathcore makes me laugh. its almost an oxymoron. if you need proof, look at what everyone is posting around you.
I think if Attack Attack wasn't such a terrible band I could take their lyrics seriously. However, that is not the case. I really don't care about the lyrics so much as the music. If you want lyrics go listen to the Beatles. I only mentioned lyrics before because I was looking for more things that were terrible in that song. That song is bad, and you need to accept this.

i guess i can understand it when you say that :/ i never really thought of that but idk the way i see it is their just a band who sounds maybe a bit metalish and sings about their faith but idk its like i can just relate to them because their christian and i like the message their trying to send and maybe they can change the metal stereotype

Not with music like that they can't .
But on a more serious note, most modern metal bands don't focus on religion at all simply because the topic's been done to death. Dark themes will remain common though, just because they're badass. However, Satan still sells for Dimmu Borgir and other pop black metal bands.

Everyone in this thread will agree that that song is stupid as shit and that you are indeed a 15 year old Church boy who likes dumb trendy music.
i dont care if you think it is metal or not fragkrag
Have you listened to their new album?
I haven't heard it yet...wondering if it stands up to Panopticon and In the Absence of Truth.
EDIT Oh, and has anyone heard of some Texas metal band called Vesperian Sorrow?
Yes i have heard it
tbh absence of truth is my favourite so no it doesnt stand up to it. theres only a few songs on the album i like and the rest of it is pretty generic and uninteresting
I'm sure people don't have this in mind when referring to metal.
How about you actually read the OP? "Please, no Nu bashing"
If you don't want bands like this to be mentioned, go open up your own thread. And omg reading how you say KSE is for pussies in this thread, and say how much you like Lady Gaga in the other, I get the feeling that either you're a huge troll or something is seriously wrong with you
On September 16 2009 02:00 Ro[]t wrote: And now for some lovely nu-metal \o/
nu-metal != heavy metal
People need to figure out these distinctions. If you listen to Slipknot and Disturbed, you are not a metal fan. You're a teenager. If you listen to Dimmu Borgir and Cradle of Filth, you're a trendy goth. If you listen to Burzum and Mayhem, you're probably a neo-nazi.
I'm very harshly opinionated about this, by the way .
So to make up for it, have some metal:
I think you should stop worrying about what band is what genre and has what audience and just enjoy music for what it is. I feel sorry for people who for example cling to "real heavy metal bands" only (I'm not saying that's the case with you, just generally)
and again an excerpt from the OP:
ALL genres welcome from power metal to death metal! And I'm sure he won't mind if someone mentions a band that is more considered "hardcore" than "metal"
HOLY SHIT. something that resembles logic :D its amazing. you are my hero ^^
yeah... everybody bashing KSE, or any other "nu" metal band, stfu. dont get me wrong: your opinion is welcome. dont like a band/song? give a half assed explanation why. excluding entire genres of music that you deem not metal enough with your almighty word is not. metal is diverse. learn to live with the fact that not everybody loves screaming and dropped tuning.

2:46 is my favorite part. i spit up water on my keyboard
ewww
this fits the metalcore part I was talking about earlier perfectly. However, the kids will like it rest assured
This was SO bad. These guys used to play hardcore/emo, then let their hair grow and try to look like metal guys but they look ridiculous just holding their instruments and trying to be metal. And when the clean vocals/screaming starts I facepalm so hard that my keyboard breaks. Way to try buy into trends, fucktards
Try to come up with something of your own jdskajskdjakljdsklajskdljasdkj
thats my favorite band and i love that song just because you dont like it doesnt mean its shit and i bet the singer sings better then you and they all play their instruments better then you :/ so why flame them just because its not you type of music ?
edit: plus their not even metal so why are they posted here >_>
I seriously hope you are a troll. Its not considered playing your instruments when you just play shitty breakdowns and its not singing when you use auto tune. The lyrics are horseshit. This is what you call trying to hard.
im not a troll im being serious and how the fuck are their lyrics horse shit ? their lyrics probably mean more then anything anyone on this forum has said in their entire life >_>
We live for what He's worth, and thats more than youll know. He died for what He loved, and what he loved was you.
Ill wait for you, you know ill wait for you, ill wait for you, you know ill wait for you.
i fail to see how thats horse shit please explain
They're so horribly cliche, and it is not necessarily because they are religious in nature. Cynic's lyrics, for example, are infinitely better than that and they clearly have a Dharmic influence.
