my solution is to just keep listening to Led Zeppelin.
over, and over, and over again.
I've honestly not listened to much Led Zepplin but I'd argue that Sleep sounds a lot like black sabbath
Or does he mean there won't be any new bands like that?
After reading the article it talks more about having bands that become famous and no longer care.
i think what he means is this:
A band that will go way outside the boundaries of what is expected. Music as radical as the first Picasso was to painting.
a smalI example: Stairway to Heaven.
when this song was made radio stations wanted all songs to be 3.5 minutes long. this allows them to mix in several songs and time in commercials so that all radio stations were on a commercial at exactly the same time. this prevented channel skippers from song searching...everyone was forced to listen to advertising.
Stairway to Heaven was 8 minutes long. now if it were 7 minutes or 10:30 the local FM DJ could still find a way to mix it in and hit properly timed commercial breaks.
"in a tree by the brook there is a song bird who sings ... `sometimes all of our thoughts are misgiven` "
Led Zeppelin was a giant "fuck you" to the Beatles and their corporate-ism .. and a giant "fuck you" to the women's libertation movement.
Ok, again, are you only talking about bands that become popular enough to be played on the radio? If so, who cares? The radio of today is more corporate than it ever was in the classic rock days.
If you mean that there are no bands who create music that pushes the boundaries of what is expected of their genre then I'd have to say you are greatly mistaken.
I'd even go so far as to say the amount of boundary-pushing music today is infinitely greater than there was in the 70s or whenever led zepplin was around due to the ease of distribution through the internet.
in 1971 , the radio was all there was. you say "fuck you" to FM-Djs and get away with it? pretty amazing. the beatles never did that.
i'm not saying Till Lindemann is correct. i'm only presenting his perspective.
the only heavy metal i listen to is Led Zeppelin and Iron Maiden. The entire led zeppelin band because they are all great. Iron Maiden because of the stuff the bass player pulls off holding their pieces together in the late 1980s, and 1990s.
I love rock and metal music and I listen it for 10 years so far... My favorite bands are Rammstein, Slipknot, Sabaton, SOAD, Celldweller, Blue Stahli, Raubtier and Combichrist! I use to play these songs on my stream, so if you pass by you should check it out!

Then you should check out "Skills In Pills", it's the first album produced by Tätgren (Hypocrisy) and Lindemann (Rammstein). In my opinion it's a pretty good LP except for one or two songs.
Praise abort is a pretty song but in my opinion one of the weakest compared to the other songs on the album.

The bonus tracks were amazing too! Dark Comet's Reign and Black Realms' Majesty. But the whole album is just breathtaking, it was the second power metal album I ever listened to after Sonata Arctica's "Silence".
I've been looking for some people to share my love for this band with. Recently discovered them and it's been a while since I fell in love with the sound of a band that much so quickly.
Is it just my personal taste or do they have a damn nice 80s sound? (2015 album btw)
