In loving memory of Slayer guitarist Jeff Hanneman (1964-2013), I have decided to get off my lazy ass and compile this juicy ass list of old school thrash metal.
From the more mid-paced cuts with headbanging riffs and melodic solos, to the fucking insane skullcrushing thrashers, I’d say you’ll enjoy most if not everything here. It’s not a comprehensive list by any means, I know for a fact I have missed some bands, but if you’re not deeply familiar with thrash metal this list is as good of a starting point as you’re ever going to get.
Also, DO NOT quote this post, it’s been proven that quoting causes severe lag and flash player crashes.

Wintersun is the name of the band and the genre would maybe best be described as epic metal, although I have to say that this description is not enough as often is the case with genres. The second track off their album Time I (2012), Sons of Winter and Stars, is one of the most complex and beautiful things I've heard in a long long time. If you haven't heard this one before, it's gonna fucking knock your teeth out.
Here is a song from their first album titled Wintersun (2004). The song is called Battle Against Time and it kicks all kinds of asses.
Wintersun is Boss mate, seen then 4 times now :D Wintersun album i have original and is deffo in my top 3 albums of all time, Jari soooo goooood! BTW this was the ensiferum lead singer gone solo when he made this sideproject and they kicked him out :o Too bad for ensi this one is way better !
AFAIK leaving the band was Jaris decision, he was not kicked out. Might be wrong tho...
Jari left Ensiferum to focus on Wintersun, then Petri Lindroos left Norther to join Ensiferum, Norther changed their line-up a bit and their last album sucked completely. Didn´t know that Petri left, now theyre disbanding/renaming. But also Ensiferums last Album sucked pretty bad :-/
And since Im totally into Meldo-Death, heres some good stuff from Germany:
And some german BM, probably one of the few BM-Bands I actually do listen to:
Whoa Merany that First Fragment BLEW me away! Amazing! And joe i thought ensi made him choose one of the two cause they wanted him to tour fulltime Now to raise the bar on the singing discussion, Check this singing out! Swedish Hardcore band with a one of a kind vocal (really) Raised fist: Trust me you 'll love this after a few times but takes some getting used to.
Edit: Master of puppets even Without touching your spoiler my shockwave player crashed 3 times allready, are u sure you didnt make the trash list a little bit Too HUGE? Well now i did click it and saw testament, and in my opinion they deserve one of their newer albums on the same page aswell, cause theyre still awesome! (and ill see them in 2 months aswell so for my own good too )
Jeff was my favorite slayer member. Slayer was the band that made me like more extreme forms of metal in my teens. Bad nostalgia...reign in peace hanneman.
Haha well to me trash is unorganized chaos, (u know trashing around on stage and stuff!) Which is what i am myself, Which is good if u ask me hahaha But okay Thrash it is!
I was debating whether or not to do this, but I did some researching, and this is what I came up with. (Pointing to no one, but for those that might be interested.)
There was another, but I lost the link. Kekal I've been into since around 2001, the only musical deterrent being their drum machine usage. The song I remember from then was pretty intense bm-sounding, with the "hyperblast" you hear near the end of this track.
^ I liked the new song. Not one of their best, that's for sure, but it was worth listening to.
I'm sure there will be better songs on the new record as well.
P.S. has anyone heard the new Sodom? I've only heard one song and it was pretty disappointing, reviews seem to confirm that the album was as mediocre as it gets. T_T
P.S.S Exivious is awesome, props to Rollin for posting that! :D
P.S.S.S This song is just too badass not to post here:
Goddammit Master of Puppets, you nuked my browser! You mind posting less videos next time, or maybe editing some of the videos into posts on other pages? I mean, I get that Jeff Hanneman died and all, but what's the point of mega-memorial posts when no one can actually see what you posted?

It's not a mega-memorial post, it's a thrash compilation comprising 118 songs by over 40 old school bands. It was intended (and requested by a couple of guys) way before Hanneman met his untimely demise.
Also, I personally have never had any flash player crashes on any page of this thread. :/
