The group only makes instrumentals while using traditional instruments such as the ukulele(I think) while sticking to the old Japanese music compositions from ages ago. It's very energetic and high tempo in general, I heard their most famous song track long time ago but forgot their name, and heard that song again recently on Huk's stream. They are not too old and I think they are pretty famous for doing what they do, it's not the that all female group that I am asking about either.
If it's not really a ukelele you're referring to... hopefully the Yoshida Brothers, because they're awesome compared to the majority of the J-idol girl groups spewed out.
One of my favorites:
Yes that's it! The Yoshida brothers. Many thanks!
I have all Yoshida Bros albums, they are the shitttt!
I've been dying for a shamisen ever since I heard Rising and Storm for the first time.
BTW, any Mami Kawada fans here, god I love her music. So chill mix and real nice vocals. I understand she is used alot in animes too.

Whoa now, missing a lot there.
Just put their entire discography as your dream playlist. ^^
But really, you should add in Hoshi ga Mabataku Konna Yoru ni (it's in the OP single of Utakata Hanabi).

On another note, I just downloaded AILI's "Future Album". It's really good, wow. There are a lot of good songs on there. I advise you all to check it out. All her songs are done as collaborations with other artists (to name a few, m-flo, May J, Sowelu). She mostly plays piano but she sang in her song with m-flo (I posted a vid on page 39). Loving her songs and the people she does collabs with.

Feel free to do reposts. Copyright usually takes the original song.
doing some h/w and listening to the persona soundtrack being performed live. pretty good shit. this is prolly breaking the OP's rules but meh. really surprised at the main singer here. when hearing the "found you" track i expected someone younger :p still good stuff
So skimming through some of this thread, I think my music might be a bit different from whats generally been posted here, but some of the bands I listen to are stuff like Dir En Grey, The Gazette, Unsraw, Sadie, D'espairsray, Lynch and 12012.
I've been meaning to look for other bands but don't know where to start, anyone got any recommendations?

As for J-rock and Metal, there is B'z, X-Japan, and Crossfaith
I don't know what happened to Kaori Mochida but her voice went to crap a few years ago. She sounded awful live. I don't know if she has recovered if that is even possible. ELT did have some nice songs like Fragile, Time goes by and Dear my friend.

I love visual kei!! You should give Girugamesh a try, 「Crime」 would be an awesome introduction:
