So i've been hearing quite a bit about this movie and decided to download it and watch it. IMDB summarizes it spoiler free as:
"When hundreds of videotapes showing torture, murder and dismemberment are found in an abandoned house, they reveal a serial killer's decade-long reign of terror and become the most disturbing collection of evidence homicide detectives have ever seen."
Okay. So i'd heard that the movie was quite scary. Admittedly it was made VERY well and i could almost believe it due to the mockumentary style that it was shot in, however it just didn't seem real enough to be scary. The ending is rather open, although i'm pretty sure a second movie would wreck the first one. The gore actually isn't that bad, it's simply realistic.
Discuss this movie here if you've seen it.
Edit: yes i realize there was another thread, but i didn't want to bump it because it seemed to have kind of trailed off at the end, after 9 posts. Mayhap more people have seen it now.
The story originated as a compilation of abductions across all areas of the country, but they used the city of Poughkeepsie as an example because of some guy.. it's all on Wikipedia and it's slightly disturbing. ** Read Below
Fucking Po-Dunk Po-Town
The film has some similarities to Poughkeepsie serial killer Kendall Francois, who was convicted of 8 murders -- but he did not film their deaths. However, the director of The Poughkeepsie Tapes stated that he had never heard of Kendall Francois until weeks after the film was completed.
To keep this post on topic, did anyone notice the fact that the quality of both the acting and the sets seems to change after part 4 or 5? (it gets worse)
