Teams from the great NA scene with their super stacked qualifiers getting rofl stomped by a team from the stupid weak cis region. Who would've guessed.
If EG stick together after this, I hope they make another documentary. If there's one thing I really like about current EG, it's their chemistry outside the game.

That being said, when you are the "captain" or pseudo-captain, and your teams have gone 1-4 and 0-4 on TI main stage, its pretty fucking bad.
In today's games: RTZ didn't get that much farm, didn't have much impact in team fights, mostly just pussied out and tried to rat and stay alive. Also he was playing a squishy illusion hero against Sven both games.
Sumail didn't make many insane plays. Mostly he just took Sunstrike kills that were fed to him and did some nice combos in team fights. But he wasn't able to make crazy solo pickoffs or cleanup after fights like the old Sumail Ember/Storm from TI5.
Universe wasn't on his infamous playmaker team fight heroes. Instead they had him on rat farmers so his impact was limited. Normally we can count on Universe to make a couple plays a game with one of those big team fight heroes that will really swing things in the favor of EG.
Zai's roam was mostly shut down and he ended up feeding a lot. His impact felt limited because of these failed ganks and he was really poor.
Cr1t played well in team fights IMO, actually making some nice saves on the WW. However we can blame him more for the poor drafts which led the 1/2/3 position to have these squishy rat heroes vs Empire's beefy team fight lineup.
To conclude, I thought that the draft was poor. If everyone on the team collaborated on the draft then the blame can be laid on all of them. And each of their players also failed to perform to expectations, especially the "stars" RTZ/Sumail/Universe who didn't really do anything spectacular.
HOWEVER I also thought that Empire played extremely well. Fn and Resolut1ion were on point of course. However the supporting cast was great especially Rodjer's Nyx in game 2 which was an absolute menace. So all credit to Empire for really gelling as a team and putting up a solid performance.
Quite pointed when Artour talked about PPD vs Crit as captains... he basically said that PPD opened discussion but ultimately trusted himself and his own ideas, and the team went along with it. Crit opened discussion and tried to get consensus from everyone. So again I think it's the one vision thing: a sports team or a competitive team cannot really reach their potential as a team unless there is a final say, a final word in things (be it drafts or taking teamfights or overall gameplan), and someone with the vision to say it and get everyone to believe in it.
I think that's the reason RTZ and PPD can't gel. RTZ has very specific ideas on how best to play the game that clashes with PPD. Same reason PPD gave about the trainwreck that was WanteD. He and QO just had a radically different perspective on Dota that couldn't be merged, and as two strong captain-type personalities, they just clashed.
I think RTZ and Crit should make another team. I feel they get along really well and have the same viewpoint towards Dota, and they can get others to fall in. But RTZ is really a mid at heart, and Crit is a 4 position captain who needs some farm to be effective. He needs another to sacrifice farm for him.
How does a c9-EG hybrid sound? Fear-RTZ-MSS-Crit-PLD and Aui-Sumail-Uni-Zai-PPD.

Consensus may be achieved in practice and outside game events, but there is not enough time for an efficient consensus in the draft itself. Only an effective one where potential weaknesses exist that can be abused by opponents. It is not optimal.
I can't wait to see VP play again. They were absolutely brutalizing their opponents. I hope they can take on LFY this time.
