Any hero that has damaged the target since... some time window? Or since full HP? Pretty sure it's time. You can get assists for doing a single right hit, and I think even stuff like 1 tick of radiance aura. Assists don't have any real game impact though. As was said already, you get gold and exp for being there when a kill happens, even without doing anything.

At some point you will probably get hooked tho, but it doesn't matter. Why do you need to bottle crow against Pudge, lol? He can't do shit to SF if you're playing matchup right. Just get some souls at start, because Pudge base damage is way higher, after 10-12 souls you will just dominate and Pudge will go roam anyway, so you can follow him or get tower and then follow. Ah, and rune control is welcome, because if Pudge gets something like haste-dd in same time and feast you, then life will be sad.

(in terms of item choice, rush boots or rush bottle and jz spam razes w/ bottle crow? ) I think for this once you should probably ask for a lane ward. Especially since you're sf and sure, you can get smoke ganked but at the very minimum it lets you predict ganks a bit better (usually you'll see pudge standing a lot more aggressively/risky or trying really hard to pull the wave across the river) and most importantly you cannot possibly get hooked with a laneward. Other than that just remember to farm your jungle because the last thing you want to do is stay in the lane for the entire time later on because you will get ganked. edit: as you play more you probably wont need the lane ward anymore but definitely for starters its a nice luxury to have so you dont feed ![]()

Its a no contest. Its like sf vs mirana matchup. You are suppose to dominate the lane, but your opponent can solo kill you if you make a mistake. The most important thing is not let your early advantage slip away because of 1 hook. So buy your own lane ward for night time.

Incidentally, the first night time being 4 min to 8 min is actually pretty awkward because if support didn't give you one of the 0 min wards, there's like 1-1.5 min where he's level 6, its night time, and you can't have a ward yet for him.

There is very little amount of heroes who can stand against SF with bunch of souls and Pudge isn't one of them.

Usually a 5k+ player won't be any higher than page 4-5 (although it happens once in a while). The 3.8k you saw was probably in a party, or he got really lucky and was in a big search range. My main ranked account right now is 5.1k, but I've also been playing another account that is 4.8 that started at around 4.2k. When it was 4.2 I don't think I was below page 10 more than a couple of times, and more in the 15-30 area. So to answer the other guys question once you're at least 4.5k you will probably be hitting page 1 occasionally, and once you're 5k you will be hitting it consistently. You can hit it when lower but it's unlikely.

SF can comeback, Pudge can't. That the difference. And Pudge to be useful will go roam, so SF will come back no matter what. Even if he doesn't have the ward and overextend to lose early to Pudge.

SF vs. melee actually becomes quite comfortable if he passes the point where the melee in question cannot solo kill him. Pudge can, but if he doesn't make good on those opportunities, SF can get by.

There are several vs. melee Bottle-Crow matchups that Pudge can control comfortably against heroes with significantly weaker level 1/2 because those heroes have to either choose between not starting a Stout Shield (and getting crushed off the lane at level 1) or delaying their Bottle long enough that Pudge can use his strong level 3 timing.
