Its possible to go out of mana with treads/bf if you happen to use your ultimate regularly. (Even with statsbuild) Vlads is also a very decent option in many games considering that it allows you to solo rosh, farm ancients without losing hp and generally have the possibility to farm after escaping a gang/teamfight on low hp. Edit: Its also a very valuable asset when splitpushing to buff up your creepwave.
EDIT: Dagon sucks on NA unless you are stomping noobs, dagger is better in 99% of the cases. Leveling Manaburn second is also the way to go in most games, the cooldown reduction is far too valuable to pass up for a slightly longer stun duration on carapace (which is not even guaranteed against competent enemies with certain heroes). Obviously there are some exceptions to the rule where leveling carapace second is actually better but those are very rare. (F.e. against a tinker its questionable)

Basically the scenario where Dagon is good on NA is when it allows you to solo-kill a significant portion of the enemy team (i.e. not just supports) and maintain that solo killing ability for a long enough period of time to take control of the game.
For the most part, NA does this far less often than the old NA where Mana Burn did flat damage, making early-midgame burst significantly higher than it is now. With the current version of the hero, you have to be extremely ahead to be able leverage this killing power over a significant period of time.

It really depends a lot on how fights tend to play out, because a second carapace CD against certain kinds of teams can be very strong. I would say that you're underplaying the scenarios where carapace second is the way to go.

Stats gives 38 HP, which is worth 73 EHP vs magic with 1st rank Spell Shield. Spell Shield ranks increase your net magic resistance to 48.2/53.8/59.4/65% (equivalent to 193/216/246/286% of your HP as EHP vs magic). Even the worst rank (rank 1 to rank 2) gives more EHP vs. magic than stats at 312 HP, which is lower than the HP you start the game with.
There are situations where you will max Spell Shield over stats.

Could S&Y work on am as first item after boots?

If you mean it in the literal sense of "is it possible to win with first item SnY on am?" then the answer is of course yes. Just like first item rapier on Crystal Maiden is possible to win with.

Unlike a lot of other heroes, it's very hard to justify S&Y over Manta on AM because Manta's combat power is so much higher thanks to illusions retaining the Mana Break ability, and because one of the main advantages of S&Y (mobility/chasing power) is generally not something Anti-Mage needs to itemize for until incredibly late-game (in which case, Abyssal is usually your item of choice for locking someone down).
You could probably do some strange 4-1-4 + Vanguard-S&Y stuff and it might not be *terrible* but it's hard to justify playing Anti-Mage at all if you want to do that.

So, watching Dream League right now and have been seeing a resurgence in batrider. Obviously a good hero in many situations. My question is, why don't supports play him? I realize he wants blink, boots, forcestaff as soon as he can but is that really that different from say, an enigma? Last I knew batrider wasn't awful in the jungle and you can get another hero for your offlaner or mid.

A great deal of Bat's strength is being able to get his core items up quickly (blink/force/travels), which you can't really do as a support. Plus as a support, he doesn't really offer you much in terms of lane control, and he's somewhat hard/annoying to jungle as of 6.79

I would assume that he means Batrider as a jungling 4th position hero. With regard to that, there's two main issues:
1) Batrider is a more powerful solo laner, and it's generally favorable to take advantage of this--particularly in solo lanes against melee heroes.
2) Batrider creates very little pressure from the jungle prior to his Blink Dagger. He can only really farm for it, whereas Enigma has decent pre-Blink ganking ability with Malefice (Batrider could gank leveling Flamebreak but a failed Flamebreak gank ruins his farming tempo where it's far easier for Enigma to transition back into the jungle off a failed gank), as well as strong pushing power with Eidolons. For the hero to be strong in the jungle, he has to do more than just farm.

It's also much easier to block the easy camp now, and if you can't kill the easy camp twice to get level 2 you're gonna have a bad time
|
you have to pray that the medium camp you can cliff-jungle isn't blocked by golems
|
actually you just have to pray you don't get golems at all they wreck bat jungle

Make sure you verify the integrity of your game cache.

What is "shotgun" when speaking of Morphling? Is this an old Dota 1 term?
|
Ethereal Blade + Adaptive strike is referred to as "Shotgun". Maybe because its kinda like 2 shots aka double barrelled, or maybe because you just kinda blow the baddies up "BAM". I don't know how "old" the term is although I'm sure its been around since dota 1.

Cool. Thanks Sn0.

It's when you buy Ethereal blade, morph most/all of your strength to agility and use EBs active ability combined with adaptive strike to 2 shot people, like from a double barreled shotgun. Both EBs active ability and adaptive strike deal damage based on agility

Dunno why none of you are mentioning Waveform, it usually is used as part of the Shotgun as well.
