You can, and it's probably one of the bigger changes to the hero in DotA 2 that makes blink so strong. In DotA 1, disabled daggers (and disabled Heart of Tarrasque as well) were not treated as CDs, but as separate dummy items that held the slot. Refreshing your CDs didn't give you the active dagger back--the only thing that returned active Dagger was the trigger that gave it back to you when you hadn't taken damage for 3s.

If yes to both, that makes it seem pretty hard to land in large chaotic team fights if there's chen creeps, summons, lane creeps, etc

If it's just some random 5v5 teamfight in the river or something, just throw it on the fight it probably won't matter what you hit.

What do I do as Tinker in that awkward phase between Soul Ring and BoT if I'm facing some really aggressive enemy heroes and am having difficulty farming? I usually try to stack ancients but on the Radiant side I feel like it really gets in the way of leveling up. Also, once I have BoT I find that I can kill lots of creeps and get money but I fall behind in XP usually because I'm so squishy that I'm sitting outside XP range for fear of getting ganked. Does this just come down to better map awareness and proper warding? EDIT - ONe more: what are some good benchmarks for Boots of Travel? If I'm playing well I can usually get it by 13 mins. Sometimes I go allin on rockets/lasers and get lucky with 10ish mins, but if that strat doesnt work I usually cant get them until like 18-20 mins and I'm way behind all game.

Does this just come down to better map awareness and proper warding? You can jungle 2-3 jungle camps at a time with march if you stand in the right place (just kinda figure out where march is gonna go its not that complex if you go looking for spots). It's less efficient than stacked ancients but easier and requires less setup. Don't worry about XP as you really don't need level 16 until you have a hex (and if you hit 16 before that DONT LEVEL ULT you can't afford the mana). Yes knowing which lane to TP to and farm (or when to farm jungle/ancients) is quite important as well. On March 07 2014 07:26 red_hq wrote: What extra can you do in lane as a melee support? In safe lane as a melee support, say sand king or tide, I feel like I have a lot of down time just waiting in the trees to punish an enemy for getting to greedy. I know I can stack camps and pull neutrals if I am in off lane but in safe lane I feel like I am just standing around doing nothing for a long time. If I go to deny I soak up a huge amount of harass and if I go out roaming I don't have enough 1v1 power. Should you just never assign a melee support to safe lane? Or is there a better way to play it? If you are hiding in trees, and it's zoning the enemy out of lane without him having vision of you, go smoke mid. Either you kill mid or he's forced to play passively and you are effectively zoning 2 lanes at once. You get smoke gold from passive gain at 1 minute so you can't pretend its too expensive plus unless you had to buy wards AND courier one support should start with a smoke anyway. I'm not sure if you have safe lane mixed up but safe lane is the lane you can pull in although as radiant you can actually pull in offlane as well. Radiant safe lane = bottom. Dire safe lane = top.

As a general idea for off-lane 2v2, you want to pair supports with strong offensive ability with laners that have strong defensive ability and vice-versa. Earthshaker is basically the premier example of a 2v2 off-lane support and he has fantastic defensive ability. It may seem like you're doing nothing, but paired with an offensively-strong off-laner that can just do whatever they want with Earthshaker behind to rescue them (e.g. Batrider, Ancient Apparition, Windrunner), you can create a lot of pressure. A lot of times though you're just waiting behind to fissure if the supports try to engage on them. Melee supports with weak defensive ability like Tidehunter or Ogre Magi tend to be better on safe-lane or roaming.

I remember messing every single Soul Catcher on my very first game as SD lol.

force isnt core on tinker, but the item is heaps good in certain situations. tinker actually turns into a pushing monster with it if you build necro 3 right after, because he can keep forcing his creep forward while clearing enemy creeps at the same time. spawn necro 3 at tower then tp out. force is also good just because of the extra mobility it gives, but there is a specific use for force staff with tinker

btw, I'm the terrorblade here. We took their towers methodically and we were really winning but in the end, the enemy team turtling in their base just rolled us in the end. I don't really know what I should have done. I felt that my team lost because of me. here's the game, if its viewable. http://dotabuff.com/matches/549275436
