Farm, push towers when you are unoppposed, farm more, become a carry. Besides, if you actually gank ur getting runes i'd assume and that means bottle's got ur back. I think the best thing to do as sniper mid is to get early points in schrapnel and use to push mid tower. Schrapnel is such an underrated spell.

Why do you think so? Shrapnell max lvl (which means that you leveled it up over range) does 144 dmg (36 at lvl one) to buildings, thats like 7 auto-attacks. Having range or stronger headshot gives you more control in the lane, which is a point from where you either can push the tower, or would have lost mid anyways. Also putting only one point in shrapnel or none at all means that you only need some mana for assassinate, not for shrapnel as well. Thanks for your replies Sn0_Man and Xxazn4lyfe51xX.

I understand that my supports MUST ward because DP's only strength is movespeed, which is easily bypassed by power mids like qop and puck. If you have active roaming supports, 1 point in silence pre-level 6 might actually be useful. If you are mostly going to be laning 1v1, I'd rather go 4-0-2-1 before taking a point in silence. Whenever I do take a point of silence, I sometimes go 2-1-2-1, if I feel like I really need the MS bonus. I just kind of treat her as a ranged DK of sorts and just push the lane if the enemy mid isn't there.

Ideally you of course don't want to have an early point of silence (nuke/witchcraft are too good) but if you're under threat of ganks / getting dived then an early point could potentially be useful.

You also get to auto-attack at the same time and hit creeps + tower with shrapnel as well. If you're talking about pushing with creeps the damage you can deal to the tower is going to be highest with shrapnel. Headshot does nothing for hitting the actual tower and shrapnel will down the creep wave faster than the extra headshot levels. In all cases you're likely to have level 2 take aim and will outrange the tower anyways. Also shrapnel is magic damage, not physical, so the numbers are a bit misleading. You aren't competing with the tower's 20 armor and 50% hero damage vs fortified armor when you use shrapnel. Overall shrapnel is about 1/3rd the dmg of Pugna's blast (162/5.5s vs 144/15s for shrapnel), but you're getting stronger auto-attacks backing it up as a consolation. It's probably significantly worse when you consider how much easier it is to deny the tower, but it's still enough to pressure a tier 1 mid and it's not necessarily a bad skill build, you get a 30% slow with up to 400 dmg aoe after all.

Is it because the fourth level doesn't offer as much damage scaling? I personally feel that with so many mids being rather squishy nowadays (storm, puck, qop) extra damage always pays off. Thanks synapse and rebdomine for answering! Is there any mid matchup that I should expect to win as Death Prophet? As far as I can tell she's weak vs all of the common power mids, though there might be some obscure ones that I haven't thought of. Her slow attack projectile and telegraphed nuke really makes it easy for an opponent with good mechanics to 1-up me on everything I try to do.

The only times I ever really recall winning mid really hard is when the opponent does something weird like putting a treant protector mid.

Say you're a lion with blink dagger blinking somewhere, and just before you impale the enemy hero the attack animation commences - you impale next cancelling the attack animation. Did the attack animation impede any of your casting or is it just a result of you casting impale too slow? + Show Spoiler + I know you can shift queue cast shit.

This is really the main problem with Shrapnel max--if you have 550 range, it's insanely risky to lasthit anything if the creep wave ever gets to a point where you have to step off the high ground to lasthit. Shrapnel max is better if you can get away with it, but whether you can depends on the roaming power of the enemy supports and the killing power of the enemy mid laner (there was a DotA 1 game ages ago that was DK vs Tongfu where Burning played Sniper mid vs a CK with a roaming VS--he was essentially required to get Take Aim ranks early here because without a significant range advantage over Reality Rift, farming without dying is basically impossible).

Shrapnel is better for pushing towers for obvious reasons, Take Aim increases the strength of your autoattack harassment (particularly once your autoattack range is long enough to autoattack an enemy hero from outside the creep aggro radius) and overall safety. Shrapnel max is more aggressive but also riskier because having to lasthit creeps at 550 range until level 4 opens you up to getting ganked much more easily.
