It's really a matter of timing. You'd like to leave Mek to other players yes, as it does make your development a bit more awkward, but if your team needs a Mek, you need to get it.

Well for one thing Necro kinda wastes all that HP regen from pipe and without some sort of HP boosting item he's squishy enough to die before the mek arrives fairly often if it's on other heroes. With the mek on him its actually a tank item. With the mek on others its sometimes a tank item, which isn't necessarily good enough (can be if the other hero is really good about being in fights).

If you had say a clockwerk mid, it just makes more sense for the clock to get the pipe and necro to get the mek (since clock has a larger HP pool to abuse the tankiness of pipe). Also pipe is a lot more gold than mek which means that it delays your other items quite a bit more.

I don't necessarily agree with that.

The safe lane farmer typically has somewhat of a farm advantage from the nature of the lane and due to the fact that he does not need to get things like Bottle for safe lane. The advantage of putting Mek on the mid laner and Pipe on Necro is that it allows you to match the timings for these two pushing items.

Having an earlier Mek timing when Clock only has a Hood and then a later Pipe timing while Necro only has parts for his next item is weaker than having a single combined Mek+Pipe timing.

Of course, that combined timing doesn't always work out due to how people can be doing better or worse in a particular game, but that's something you adjust on the fly.

how does crit chance from different sources with different damage stack, if at all? last night I was playing as Juggernaut, and was considering buying a daedalus, but I wasn't sure how it would work with my passive...

They stack diminishingly.

As in, the first crit chance rolls and if it succeeds then the next one doesn't roll at all so you "lost" that percentage chance. If the first fails then the second rolls at it's normal chance.

So if you have 2 20% chances, then you end up critting 36% of the time (20% + (20% * (1 - 20%)) AKA (cc1 + (cc2 * (1 - cc1)). cc1 is crit chance 1 and cc2 is crit chance 2.

When the crits are for different amounts (like jugg crit is 200% and daedalus is for 240%) I believe the highest damage one rolls first but I could be wrong about that.

Jugg crits 35% of the time with rank 4 crit.

Jugg with daedalus crits 51.25% of the time. Note that juggs crit is a very high chance one, and stacks worse than more random ones like PA/CK/WK with lower chances (10-15%).

If they both crit the highest crit is indeed used.
That's the 2nd time in a week I've seen someone sig a quote from this GD and I have never witnessed a sig quote happen in my TL history ever before. -Najda

Now the interesting calculation is then "just how much gain is diminished?".

Ignoring the damage from daedalus.

Jugg starts at say 100 dmg. With his crit, the average attack does 135 dmg. Without his crit but with a daedalus, the average attack would again do 135 dmg.

With both crits, his average attack does 161.25 dmg. So he "lost" 8.75 damage in there somewhere (aka the "diminishing" part).

So no matter what your base damage is, the figures above hold true as a percentage. Note that since daedalus still gives a lot of damage it can be a cost efficient purchase on jugg but usually there are better options.

being solid in 1v1 doesnt make you a strong laner. practically every hero is good at 1v1, it depends on the skill of the player. how good a hero is during the laning phase can be seen more clearly in dual and trilane situations, and necrolyte is terrible at it. if you get a 1v1 match up for him then good for you, but no team is going to risk picking him hoping he gets solo safe lane farm when teams are going to come at him with a strong dual lane or a trilane, meaning he has to get babysat and even then it wont guarantee his safety.
also regarding radiance, this has been brought up like 53846383 times in this thread. carry necro is legit. why play boring standard necro when at 35mins you can pop out with radiance heart and hex and just hold position in fights and watch baddies die

What are some good lane combos with Ancient Apparition? It seems that AA is really good in the pub environment, but he needs a solid, aggressive start.

I think Earthshaker-AA used to be a frequent offlane duo many years ago and probably still playable in pub.

CK also works well as he can pull people back into range of his stun (forgot the name of the spell -_-).

Shaker+AA, SK+AA, and CK+AA were probably the 3 most common lanes with AA.

he is strong with clock if you are up against a melee carry. If the enemy lane isn't particularly strong either you can lane him with a range carry and use chilling touch to harass them out of lane.

Question

I had an opponent on ladder (ranked) and this player has played well over 30 games this season but is not ranked at all. I was wondering whats the deal with this? May this be him/her using the "leave league" button? player didnt accept msgs from non-friends.

Nobody is saying necro #1 solo, he's a situational pick that's why you gotta draft around him and you'll probably draft him in games where it suits his lane.

Also, every hero is good at 1v1?? Pretty sure there's matchups where unless you massively outskill your opponent you'll get wrecked.
You must gather your party before venturing forth.

Kunkka with AA is amazing.

I wouldn't call it "amazing".

Kunkka would rather have a support that has a lead-off spell so he does't have to level X to set up the kills because X ranks lower his damage potential. This is why it's much more common to pair him with Bane or SD, or another point-and-click lead-off stun.

What is the reason for some items trigger linkens but medallion doesn't?

Balance presumably, much like urn also doesn't trigger it. The item isn't much good if anybody can get rid of the defensive part for 1K gold or less, with an item that was probably useful anyway.

Force staff is pretty good for linkens proccing already and its 2250 gold.
