Ah, guess that makes sense then. I always thought it's somehow linked with attacks connecting to the tower.
You must gather your party before venturing forth.

Yeah pure damage doesn't hurt them (universal damage does tho).

So like lesh edict works on them, and you can roar them to stun them, but very few spells actually damage them.

Common ones are:
Lesh edict
Beastmaster Axes
Tinker's March of the Machines.
Dazzle spells
Slardar Stun
Tide anchor smash
Bristle quill spray

Theres a few more but those are the ones you can really use to clear them in the jungle. Note that the same rules apply to ancient creeps, which is where some of these become especially useful.

You just mentioned spells that does physical damage except march of the machines that is universal. The main difference between universal and physical is that universal goes through magic immunity but is reduced by magic resistance while physical damage is calculated purely from armor.

"Universal damage is very similar to magical damage. It is reduced by magic resistance and deals 1.4x damage to ethereal units, but unlike magical damage, it goes through magic immunity. Currently there are four spells and one passive with this damage type:" Gamepedia.dota2

what are your thoughts on furion feeding treant to tower hits, backing off on red hp, and letting SF mid kill for souls? can be done at least three times (potentially 4 times) before game starts so that sf gets 6 souls/12 damage (or 8 souls/16 damage) for a much easier laning phase, and then furion can go jungle with treants summon.

potentially, when furion is jungling and his treants get low hp, he can send to mid as well for souls

As Dire you can just feed them to Rosh and let SF deny from high ground outside. Same with veno wards unless they changed it very recently.

I'm new to Dota 2, and I have a question about how kills are announced.

Sometimes when a kill occurs, it says Player A pwned Player B! But other times it says Player B was pwned by Player A! Is there a way to make kills be announced consistent, be it the former format or the latter?

Also I think sometimes assists are shown in a kill; why is that? I think in the latter format when it uses the passive tense "was pwned" instead of the active voice just "pwned" it doesn't show the assists?

Or maybe all of this doesn't happen at all and I'm not reading carefully enough because I'm new, but I would've sworn it's like that.

you pretty much never want to go drums on ta. ta is supposed to be played as a glass cannon. pretty much the only defensive item you get on her is bkb, and thats just so you get kited less rather than to keep you alive. if you dont go blink go straight for yasha as the movement speed is invaluable, and then go damage items so you can still 2 shot supports.

It lists out the assists when no hero gets the killing blow so it is split between assists. It also names the death first then.

You still get bkb usually if there are more cc than you can dispel with manta style.
And after bkb she's not really glass cannon :D

My buddy plays TA at around 4k group matchmaking in ranked with a 70% winrate. He virtually never goes blink, and phase drums wand bottle seems to be his core, with yasha / manta / deso / bkb being common additive items. So 3,600 - 4,200 rating, 70% winrate, always gets drums never gets blink. Seems like it might be okay to get drums on TA

the general idea in getting blink is because there is no 'initiator' in fights. if a hero on your team can start a fight from a distance (puck,sk, magnus, clockwork). you can focus on getting items that boost your stats/damage etc etc. instead of mobility.

pros only get drums because they know their opponents are actually good enough to punish them when trying to go straight for a 2k item. on top of that teams play well enough to properly capitalise on the movespeed of drums' active
im not saying drums are bad in pubs cause pub players are stupid and dont know how to use drums, but in pubs drums are hardly a necessity. why slow yourself down when you can just get a bigger item and get away with it
also note how i said you never WANT to get it. the same way you dont want to get it when youre a naix or luna if you can skip it altogether and get away with it. people only get drums on cores when they feel they need a bridge between their item development or they specifically need the movespeed active because they have no other means of getting more movespeed.

Hmm, that's a good point. However, I was under the impression that some heroes (like Luna) get drums not only because it's a costeffective and useful item, but because they need the int and they don't want to get any more expensive items with int... so you could skip it and rush more expensive items, but you'd be manastarved so there's little point.

So this basically means if someone switches aggro onto you, you can't shake it off for 2 seconds?

In terms of stats Drums is close enough to Ultimate Orb in terms of stats to make it really close. The main selling points are the active/the buildup for a farming hero who has other reasonable options. Naix e.g. usually isn't one of them.

@some above: No, TA shouldn't get a Blink to be an initiator. The hero is neither a Magnus or Puck nor a hero that wants to be in the thick of the fight early on. If you're forced to "initiate" in any shape or form something is really, really wrong.
