The hero has no business being in the middle of fights if you play him correctly and it's the bear that should be in the thick of things by the time you get AC (25-30 mins is the good AC timing). Your bear is going to be leading the sieges and needs to be in the front lines. The flat armor from AC gives it the much needed tankiness to absorb some tower hits, a bunch of weak auto attacks while he gnaws away at the tower. In the late game, you can make a case for moving the AC on the hero cause the bear gets burst down too fast anyway.
Then again, if you're playing LD, you don't want to get to that situation. Especially if you're the team's hardest carry.

Not 100% strategy but...
Does any1 know of a vod or replay of high level teams successfully BOTH going mass necro book into the late game?
Thanks!

I can understand getting drums on some carries who needs movement speed like LS or just attributes like Gyro, but not Slark, who can get orchid/basher and totally don't care about opponents. Bkb is reasonable at least, but getting skadi faster than 4-5th item is not worthy because it worth 5675 gold, which is combine cost of Orchid Malevolence and Javelin and 50 gold.
S&Y has same idea behind like drums, just with more damage and more health. And costs 2,5 times more, even though it gets you 14 more damage and 63 health more. Buy Linken's sphere like Loda does, it gives you required attributes, damage and stuff for 5k + you don't need bkb because you have linken's, dark pact and ult. It's enough already, no need in spending 4k more. Go linken/basher instead of orchid/basher it's profitable as well.
Even lothar is better than drums and s&y. You suck at numbers. The MS on Drums is never wasted. Without Drums vs with Drums: lvl 6: 461 vs 479 lvl 11: 479 vs 497 lvl 16: 497 vs 514 Alternatively lvl 6 with S&Y hits 518 MS and everything more caps it. The only item a Slark needs to farm the jungle as soon as he hits lvl 4 pact is Drums, alternatively a casual Ultimate Orb which kind of sucks donkey balls that early into the game. Or he can build an Orchid which, while efficient for damage, gives him way more mana than he needs to do his job, and doesn't give him any kind of inherent tankyness which the hero desperately needs considering how shitty his stat gain is. Linkens doesn't give you anything you really want (the regen portion is pretty much completely wasted, it's way too expensive as a farming item for a hero that can farm great with way less gold investment) and the only reason to ever get it on Slark is the spell block which, as always, makes it incredibly game dependent. Just tell me, why do you need ms more than 460-470 if noone in game can reach even 400 at 30th minute mark? Game is not about running from people only. Well we can destroy your argument quite easely 1. Position easier with movement speed. 2. You can run away from people 3. You can chase people 4. You farm faster 5. You join fights faster. 6. You pretend you are a racecar Argument about faster farming because you have higher ms almost made me laugh. Good work.
you dont see how having higher ms helps you farm faster?

What do you get on magnus after your core items?
I always go bottle --> arcanes --> blink. Most of the time I use my 3 branches to get a wand. After this I almost always get drums.
Now after blink I stop farming and just fight with my team but if your somewhat effective you can really rack up a lot of farm with mag. I tend to get a perseverance to stay on map and about 80 % of the time I get a refresher after that. But it doesn't really seem that much more effective. I've gone the bfury full out farming style and just 6 slot and become a carry, it works but usually the game is won either way by that point.
It just seem like you keep bringing in at least decent farm as magnus if you pay just a little attention and there's nothing that's awesome to spend it on as you have everything you need at that point already.

force staff and refresher. or as you said you can go damage items shivas/hex is good too if you need it. assault cuirass is a good choice as well. pretty much anything your team needs, be it vlads/pipes/ac/shivas/hex/refresher etc theres pretty much no bad item on him since hes so versatile

No. Can you clarify? Because usually you're using tps and not running for creeps on whole map.

Get force staff/bkb on Magnus, if nothing against you, just go for refresher.
I'm really surprised btw that almost noone is playing him as melee dps in DotA 2, and even less are playing him not on middle as farming rhino.

so if movespeed does not improve farming speed at all, then presumably a hero moving between lane and jungle with 150 movespeed will farm just as quickly as a hero with 522 all other things equal? Right?
|
A concept a lot of people have trouble getting around is that more movement speed=more damage. You get into fights faster and can get an extra hit or two in because of it.
And lets destroy this myth once and for all. You do NOT tp from lane to lane when farming. Thats almost the entire creepwave wasted on the tp you just used to get there, not to mention the 60 sec cooldown. What you can do is use a tp to stop a lane from pushing, and pushing it to the enemy tower instead, gaining farm in the process.

Also Anti-Mage with Battlefury who has a great mobility with low cooldown blink farms as fast as Juggernaut with Battlefury, right?
EDIT: Added Battlefury for Anti-Mage, I did not realize that it was lacking :p

Why doesn't the am have a battlefury? Am with bf is one of if not the fastest farmer in the pool EXACTLY because of his high mobility and low blink cooldown.

Now I'm sorry And derailing the thread too. So to get it back to track can someone enlighten me about the art of playing Bloodseeker in low level pubs?
Should I go gank madness after level six or should I focus more on farming and carrying the game that way? Obviously if enemy team does not have solo-killable heroes or groups up it'll be harder to gain advantage by ganking, but I feel like his skill-set does make him too reliable on other heroes to set things up in teamfights, because he's vulnurable to burst and does not have disables. That's why going for more farm oriented style with him does not feel correct.
In 1v1 situations I can silence the enemy if needed or just use the silence on myself after casting rupture if I don't have to fear stuns or some other skills, but in teamfights I feel like I need too much from other people to really have any control over what's happening.
Similarly how should I itemize him? Shadowblade allows me to get close and personal with enemies but does very little else, of course it works for running away too :p Is BKB a good choice for first item, or is it too defensive for him to allow him to gain most out of his strengths? Would diffusal blade be good, as the slow, purge and manaburn seem all like useful properties for him.

Ganking depends since BS can some what semi carry. You can just stay mid and farm up, you are not really obligated to gank at 6 but if you see opportunity then go for it. He isnt like Pudge who revolve all around ganking. Gank when you must otherwise just farm up mid. It really depends who your laning with and who you are laning against to be honest and how well your ally are doing in their lane. If I am laning against a Zeus mid, I generally just farm up and shut him down with last hit and denies unless my allies really need me to gank.
Item I would go for are phase, drums, bkb/sny/shadowblade/dagon are pretty solid for pub games.
