Other heroes it could be viable on at times(in pubs besides PL) are PL, Axe, DK, Tiny, Jugger, Beastmaster and Skeleton King. | ||

In pubs, I could see a Brood get it. DS can grab quick Arcane's if the mana is an issue. You could also do the early Ring of Protection into Basi into Tranquils and Soul Ring, but it's just not worth it. Get Arcane's or buy 15 mana pots in the laning stage - it's 50 gold less than the Soul Ring in any case. Oh, yeah. Enigma could get it for spamming Enigglets. Edit: Spelling. Edit 2: Realised Enigma was in the pool. | ||

Mana potions work well enough for enigma but darkseer takes damage to jungle so can't be using clarities. And later-game enigma needs the soul ring as a virtual +150 mana pool simply due to the cost of all of his abilities stacked together as well. | ||

As long as you're not getting hit, the passivr HP regen takes care of most of the damage as well so it's not too bad there either. If you aren't facing a trilane though I would understand mana boots more since you won't need to ion shell very wave. | ||

You underestimate the power of Soul Ring. 150 self damage is not a big deal, especially on heroes who buy regen like Mek/Hood or something regenerative with a Ring of Health. It takes on average 21 seconds to recover the damage if you have some kind of basic regen. Also don't forget Slark has beast hp regen too, soul ring can solve mana problems on spammy Slarks.  | ||

Mid it can be OK, but tends to be redundant with Arcanes+Bottle. | ||

Tho obviously try to be cautious with Open Wounds so that you don't end up blowing it on someone you know will get away. | ||
