I definitely think they need a break, I wouldn't be surprised if they dropped out of 1 of those 2 LANs either.

Constant international travel takes its toll after the better part of 2.5 months.

True, but they have literally 1 month break now though so that could be enough ? However the Kyiv and Russia lans within space of 7 days of eachother means do you go back to America? or stay around Europe? I would say stay but is it possible idk.

But indeed a nice break is in order

Well, the only reason I say they might drop is is because they'd have to stay in Russia for about 3 weeks, going home in between is out of the question

The first LAN wouldn't be much of an issue, but the 2nd LAN might, reason being it's a completely different environment where you're forced to perform. That stress would go against them, as well as being favorites to win.

That said, do you think EG now has a monkey on their back with winning a finals? 3 straight losses while being swept I think might give them added pressure.

i think it's added pressure in general that the big international is in ~4 months.
that goes by quick.

i'm not going to say the thought of it is going to make any player on EG a choker, but in the heat of the moment, in a game, prior to a game, you will probably start to lose focus. arguments are going to be had in the locker room.
even moreso for the many chinese teams out there with fresh faces, they need to make it work.
and they need something fresh as well.
the whole ursa, wisp+OD thing has already been explored quite a lot.
even the PL, invoker mid has found its play all around.

EG now has to liberty to do all that all over again for a few months through some competitive games
all they can do is figure out where they played wrongly in those strategies and extend it with some more tactics, or even replacing heroes in those same situations.

EG was in the same position going into TI5 though. They weren't the favorites and were manhandled in finals repeatedly beforehand. In the 4 month lead up to TI5 they got 2nd, 2nd, 5-6th, 2nd, 1st (smallish tournament against C9).

It's why the people that think EG's current form is bad are wrong, because EG was a podium finishing monster for most of 2015. DAC, TI, and dotapit were the only things they won with that roster. Their new roster has almost exactly the same results as 2015 minus a Major win.

I dont think this EG is better or worse than the last one

BUT i do think this EG lacks a micro intensive hero player, someone that can play Chen or even Enchantress, Aui was that one.
