Might not be quoting this exactly but when he was Co-casting recently PPD said the team wasn't planning on practising until the new patch.

And by EG I mean the team, the players who are still there. So if this thing they did, would end up not working (which is clearly too soon to claim), you shouldn't be blaming it on rtz but on the other four.

They seem to let RTZ have his way at the start of their run togther regarding the heroes , Luna & Naga are 2 of his fav heroes in the pool and are not that strong in the patch , lets see if the trend continue.

EG is good when the meta is clearly defined and they can train the different variants. That s why the last patch secret won each tourney before the big TI. In the end this is the EG way. No one should expect them doing well with a non defined meta. The other hand, Fear looked super bad in the first game, he was the reason the last fight was won by vega. He naga ultied into universe sk ult + comb and went for the whole duration. He missplayed a lot of naga ults, some where just up for 1 person they could catch without too, and on the other he missed to split illusions correct and reduce the enemy armor. He rly played bad, but I think he knows it and will improve. It s like misery as offlane, a role swap is always a challenge. Rtz was okay, but he is not shining with luna, TI showed the same, I remember the luna game, s4 was the qop with 20-X and RTZ got dominated at top lane with luna. This char is not fitting.

I'm 99% sure the sumail axe was PPD trying to salvage the draft near the end with batrider and they were forced into putting him on an uncomfortable hero and doing different lanes.

But of course this event is different in the sense that at least some of the players took some time off the game completely after TI. Also as far as I understood from that PPD interview with Epi EG didn't really play at all as a team in the last patch. Although they scrimmed for this event on the new patch for a week or so I think they still took a pretty lengthy break from playing proper games. And to top it all off the event is single elim. For example at Summit 3, which also was relatively soon after 6.84 hit, EG started off by getting stomped by c9 in the first series but still made a comeback to go through the group and to finish 2nd.
