I expect EG to go through the open, they need to get the message across, that their rules will be enforced.
Possibly they expand the open-to-regionals slots. I don't have a problem with Perky Pepperoni getting an invite, maybe international players will come to the US and make the scene better, like w33 and Misery.
It'll be interesting to see how Valve handles this. Vici has to go through quals as they changed their line-up after the deadline

If I were Valve, I would simply give them an invite to AM qualifiers. The open qualifiers are supposed to be for up-and-coming teams to participate in an event of this size, get experience, and throw their hat in the ring with the best of the best. I think it would suck if one of those spots went to EG, denying a smaller team that opportunity.
At the same time, everyone in competitive Dota wants to see EG play in (at least) the qualifiers for TI6 - these are 5 of the best players in the world. It's simply a lose-lose situation for the community if EG are eliminited in a Bo1 in the open qualifiers.
I get that rules should be followed, but this is a case where I think Valve should make an exception, it seems to be in everyone's best interests at this point. The only downside is setting a dangerous precedent for late roster shuffles in the future; if they already have plans to change that policy though, this would be a great solution.

VG had to go through the Manila Major qualifiers. We honestly don't know about TI Qualifiers.
Ehome is the one that just changed their roster and so has to go through the Chinese Open Qualifiers.

I don't think the precedent would be an issue. Unless Valve gave EG & Secret for full TI invites. Valve just has to admit the current Roster Lock system really didn't work as they had intended.
Though there's a wrinkle with Secret getting an invite to TI6 that just came to me. That could be interesting. I wonder if the Team Secret staff is furiously negotiating with Valve about that.

EG would be the last team I'd give an exception for ... well, after Secret. The team hired Aui in times of need, then kicked him immediately after he won TI5 for them. Then they hired him in times of need again, only to kick him again at the very next crossroad, leaving him without any chance of playing TI6. Talk about a total scumbag move, I hope EG gets forced to play open qualifiers. I hope they get dazzle-huskared
|
Yeah, I'm beginning to dislike EG a lot for kicking Aui twice and for constantly re-inviting the same players back. Such unnecessary drama.
|
Okay I'm gonna say it here I want EG+Secret in the main qualifier and Valve to break their own rules. It just ain't fair for other teams to face them, besides the obvious risk of not seeing these popular people compete
|
If they don't improve drastically, there is a good Chance they won't even make the open, let alone the main qualifier.

Aui got my back when he first got kicked , second time is on him , he knew who EG are and he also backstabbed his own teammates at DC which is at itself unforgivable after what he went through. he is where he is because of his own choices.

Thats a good point, I hadn't considered that angle. It doesn't make what EG did any better tho, but you're right, this time it's on Aui

Yeah i thought they had declined that as they are defending champions doesn't make sense not to have them there. I guess they are only gonna participate in NanYang which seems silly as it so far away.

Thats a good point, I hadn't considered that angle. It doesn't make what EG did any better tho, but you're right, this time it's on Aui I dont get all the hate on EG about this, when they parted ways/kicked Aui after TI5 it was for good reasons, and to be fair, they had just won the biggest tournament and most money ever. Before the last roster lock they were caught off-guard by Rtz and Uni leaving for TS, they had to make a rush desition, gace offers to Bulba and Aui wich they obv accepted, things did not work our well, and the team needed a change, both community and the EG players felt Aui as the weakest link. when ur going to fight for 10-20 mill dollars, u want to have the best shoot at winning everything. Aui being kicked this time was obv because his performance was lackluster. And in any proffessional team you have to deliver when it matters. Yeah, its sad for Aui, but who can realy hate on EG for this... They even gave up theier direct invite just to make theier chances of winning better.
|
I think it's convenient for people to think EG is the bad guy for taking Aui/Bulba then kicking them when Aui/Bulba were really, really fucking their own team over by even taking that offer. They were effectively ruining 3 player's hopes for anything that year and they knew it. They even promised resolution a period of time before screwing him over just months in.
Anyone that thinks there's an innocent party in Dota2 pro scene that wouldn't kick anyone they needed to in order to win millions needs a reality check. This game and other "esports" are becoming more like real sports, which means emotionless firing/hiring in the name of winning.

so ur saying basically if you know you're bad you should just know to fuck off instead of making an effort to improve? or am i missing something that youre saying here?
cuz if you are thats one hell of a pessimistic point of view right there.
eg wanted them on the team, even if they were acting like standins. so you're saying that they should not even try to prove themselves again and just refuse the offer? i think that by declining the offer they would fuck up eg more by forcing them to play with other people they dont have much experience with.

No he's not really making any point about skill he's talking about "evil vs good" rather than "skilled vs unskilled"

here we go Valve pulled the trigger, Open qualifier time. Upside is that if they don't get cheesed they have a cushy TI spot waiting for them. 2+wildcard with the shortened amount of teams is EZPZ
|
Yeah, if EG is going to have any chance of doing it good at TI, the open quals and AM quals should be ezpz. EG, Col and DCshould be the strongest teams and all be at TI rly.
For those hungry for news/stuff from EG, you should check out ppd's YouTube channel, he is posting vids regularly again, and gives some info about zai, uni, bootcamp etc. in the last vids. nothing big, but yeah
Bleed Blue!

Good luck , its not a TI without the old man!!! excited to see him player #1 again
